vB under attack?

Are the major vBulletin sites under attack? I've been trying to get onto vbulletin.com vbulletin.org and vbulletintemplates.com, and all of them are encountering massive dB issues and timeouts...

Anyone have any info on this?

MaDCaT75 10-31-2003 05:33 PM

Probably just database errors.....

Velocd 10-31-2003 11:04 PM

That's what Speedstreet said, db issues and timeouts.

It is odd though they occurred for all three sites. Their databases aren't be linked.

filburt1 10-31-2003 11:07 PM

They all probably use the same MySQL server though.

Velocd 10-31-2003 11:52 PM

I'm not a frequent visitor of vBulletinTemplates, last I visted it was probably 5 months ago. I never knew it was on the same server. O,o

Yea it has been on the same sever for quite some time

insanctus 11-01-2003 01:54 AM

Even if they where not on same server I "beleive" that vborg would connect to vbcom sql to get if someone is licence (beleives is how it works)

In which case if .com was havin data base issues it would mess up .org

But last I knew they are both on same as for the other I am not sure.

vB.com, vB.org and vBT.com are all on the same server.

assassingod 11-01-2003 05:35 AM

Everything was down last night, then vB.org came back up for a few minutes and all the times were br0ked.

lasto 11-01-2003 06:38 AM

only lasted for few mins so was very minor considering the uptime of all these boards.

A few mins?? It lasted about half an hour!

lasto 11-01-2003 08:07 AM

when i logged in i was getting errors so i refreshed couple of mins later was ok then.

Maybe u tried a lot earlier than me.

KuraFire 11-01-2003 09:05 AM

They were being DoS'd. Since it's all one server, all 3 sites will suffer from it.

Chris M 11-01-2003 02:20 PM

The sites were down from around 10pm last night, right up until I went to bed at 1am - In the beginning it was just 500 server errors I was recieving, but around 11pm I started getting Database errors...Whether it was an attack or not, I have no idea, but it certainly took all three down for a while...

I still experienced some 500 errors up until half an hour ago, so the problem may not be gone yet...

Satan

sabret00the 11-01-2003 02:29 PM

yeo was down for me too :(

KuraFire 11-01-2003 05:49 PM

I'm not guessing it was (or, is) an attack, I know it was an attack. Scott said so :p

Erwin 11-02-2003 02:13 AM

Yup, the server is being DOSed by people from Korea and/or China it seems.

insanctus 11-02-2003 02:17 AM

Lmao well they are atleast doing a very good job :)

Dan 11-02-2003 02:20 AM

Well it seems like it is back for now!

/me crosses his fingers

insanctus 11-02-2003 02:23 AM

/me thinks they mad due to no language pack done for them yet

SmEdD 11-02-2003 04:26 AM

Or they were hired by like invasion or some other board cause vb is owning the market on them. :ermm:

insanctus 11-02-2003 04:31 AM

/me thinks chinese assassins have come to the internet

And they take paypal !!!

assassingod 11-02-2003 07:51 AM

It's probably because they can't afford vB so they resort to violence:p

filburt1 11-02-2003 11:06 AM

Whatever it is, it's getting damned annoying...I'm losing business and communication by the hour (yes, I realize it's not Jelsoft's fault but that won't stop me :p).

It's Invision! ;)

MindTrix 11-02-2003 03:37 PM

They suck so it doesnt matter how their named is spelt :p

I couldnt get on pretty much most of this weekend.

Would all 3 sites lose everything on them if these people succeeded or does everything get backed up?

cirisme 11-02-2003 04:59 PM

A DOS attack is just a denial of service, not any sort of actual "hacking"... they wouldn't lose any data :)

BlueFlame 11-02-2003 10:14 PM

wow thats insane, the vB.com is still down :S

Josh Combs 11-02-2003 10:49 PM

no if this site is up the other sites are up.

VO shut down the vB.com ip.... so that means no one can access it. So that means it should stop going down as soon as the idiots stop the dDoS

How are you losing business because vbulletin.com is down? Or is your server hosted on their server?

vbulletin.com is now back up, so crisis over.

Erwin 11-03-2003 04:30 AM

It has been down for me the whole of today... glad to see it back up.

insanctus 11-03-2003 04:33 AM

Give it a day when they see it back

Logikos 11-03-2003 05:03 AM

weird i haven't had any problems the past few days.

sabret00the 11-04-2003 09:01 AM

lol, you're lucky i hated having it down

Princeton 11-06-2003 02:54 AM

The site has been down for most of the day ... now, I only have access to vb.org no vb.com.

filburt1 11-06-2003 11:28 AM

There are additional problems as of late. I'm not at liberty to say any further, but the problem should be fixed for the short term.
