Wow, how could I have been so stupid? I bought a skin from insidethepixel.com and now it has eaten up all the bandwidth for the month on my forum. I didnt know that graphics like that ate up so much bandwidth. Am I a retard or what? :mad:

I think it was more of huge sigs piled ontop of huge attachments with a huge skin.

I would have look more closely see what one was the kill on it... but is only 4 days.

any suggestions on how to avoid this in the future? I'd really hate to delete a skin I paid $40 for and another $40 to remove the copyright.

Best bet is go into awstats in your cpanel ~ sees alot of mp3 bandwidth, and so on.

Also this is a subject is better placed on the hosting site rather then vbulletin.

How much bandwidth do u have a month - i noticed u have the proarcade installed on your forums so i would look more at that than the skin u have.You be surprised at how much BW all them swf games use up.

I am capped at 3GB a month so I guess eliminating the arcade and having smaller signature limits would help?

concentrate on your arcade - do u have a lot of members playing it ?

when they play each game even though the game is in their cache it always downloads it again.U need to check your web logs as 3 gig is ok for a small board.

Not alot of members playing it but I get members playing it quite frequently. I play copter at least 3 hours a day.

go to your hosts homepage and read up on how u view your web stats for when your site comes back online.It will let u know where all your BW is going and i can bet its not on that skin u got either.

It is not her skin (although 500 megs of it may have been) 2 gigs of it was php and attachments.

So what do you suggest I do to fix it? What things shall I eliminate to cut back on bandwidth?

dude :rolleyes: i would suggest checking your stats before you take any drastic measures like removing your arcade, don't host files like mp3's and such, and yah cap your attachment sizes.

but before removing your arcade i would change host as 3gig is pittence.

It is free, I host her for free.... Which I beleive 3 gig not to shabby.

3 Gb is not enough for a popular site. My other forums use more than that a day. You may want to upgrade your bandwidth plan.
