Home Theater System
I just got a Sony Home Theater System. This thing just blows away my old 2.1 speakers which were already great. It took seven trips from the car to the house to get indoors because it wouldn't fit in my trunk. It has two DTS digital inputs so once I get my Xbox and upcoming DVD player on it, my room will truly rock. :D

Nice. Sony makes some good stuff. I have a 53" Sony big screen, Sony K740P surround sound reciever, 6 Sony speakers, and a PS2.

Sounds very very nice. :)

I've been thinking of getting a home theater system... which one in specific did you get filburt?

The amp is so cool: it shows you individual speaker states and supports multiple digital inputs. You can even rename the inputs: I changed Video 1 to "TV TUNER", 2 to "XBOX", and CD to "COMPUTER". It's awesome. :) |

I can't help but add to this thread. I am actually a bit of home theater nut, although still living within a bit of a budget constraint. My audio gear is not that great and the TV is average but it still all looks pretty nice. I finally hooked up with DirecTV so I am enjoying things (football!) in HDTV.
We recently got a new house and I just finished getting everything wired in and set up not long ago. Here are some pics, including the ever-growing "anime rack." :) |
No satellite dish? Hmmm... :D

I have that same setup in my game room filburt, it is turely a awsome system. I also got a Sony dvd player along with it (forget which), just need the HDTV and ill be set ;)

Why doesn't everyone use their ps2's and x-boxes for the dvd players? I don't so maybe i'm being hypocritical but that's because I purchased my ps2 after a dvd player so.. :)

Besides, my Sony dvd holds 5 disc's, yet anthor reason for me to stay in the laz-e-boy. :D |
The PS2 has very, very poor playback quality compared to better DVD players. Not to mention the lack of progressive scan and HD (420/720/1080) modes.
You can get a standalone DVD player that does most of that these days for $150-$200. |
I got the DVD player today. It's really pretty weak overall, but it offers DTS out and component (although I can't support component yet). Full system now. :)
