Yet another month of Beta . . . Gold version should be named just how Microsoft names there products.

hmmm . . . vBulletin 2005 has a nice ring and around the right date.

SnowBot 09-24-2003 04:32 AM

assassingod 09-24-2003 06:26 AM

well the whole image dir structure has changed, there are nolonger and files in the root of the images dir. Also its testing for any blank / missing phrases and any little things like that i think :)

assassingod 09-24-2003 06:43 PM

EVERY single template that called $stylevar[imagesfolder] has been changed. (And thats most of them IIRC)

filburt1 09-24-2003 06:51 PM

Indeed...how dare they work out more bugs to make a more stable product in the end! They shall rue the day!

Beta 7 is nice, I like it. :)

SmEdD 09-24-2003 07:17 PM

Why don't they just dish out the new style because I have a feeling is they went to the next beta because they changed the templates beta 8 is still comming :(

So accept it, move on, and wait patiently like everyone else...

vB3 Beta 6 works fine as it is so far, Beta 7 will probably work just as well, and I imagine Beta 8 will be just as good...

There is no rush for RC is there:p

It won't exactly be hard to revert back to the old method. Besides I use {imagesfolder} as so far the new variable for the images folder has proved pretty much useless.

All I want is to ba allowed to post hacks and such, thats why I want RC. Hell they could be 5 years in RC for all I care.

*Grump*

assassingod 09-25-2003 01:32 PM

I'm going to have to re-write the template side of my portal now because of this change, sucks:(

But overall you have to agree that it is a good change. I know this will help on my forums at least and proabably everyone elses.

assassingod 09-25-2003 08:22 PM

I do agree that it is a good change, I just wish I knew before-hand so I could start early re-writing the templates.

But oh well, i'm sure i'll have an excellent time doing that hehe;)

TheMayhem 09-26-2003 01:02 AM

Beta 7 so far has been fairly smooth outside of a small image transition. I don't mind the upgrade.

But in my opinion i personally never cared for beta 6. 5 seemed more stable to me but eh maybe the dev's will give us a nice christmas present in december ;) Just as long as eventually we make it to a RC so hacks can come out.

insanctus 09-26-2003 02:14 AM

Mine has lagged me since 6, I should have stayed on 5.

I might just wait until RC this time, as there are still further template changes to come.

=/

sabret00the 10-26-2003 10:11 AM

i heard that the new styleset is finished and so we should have an rc sometime next week, not sure how reliable my source was but i'm getting nervous about making my new style now lol

NTLDR 10-26-2003 10:34 AM

Interesting :D Lets hope your source is right ;) I want to finish off all my styles and make use of the multiple language support.

assassingod 10-26-2003 10:57 AM

I only heard that otherday that Kier was in early stages of the style:ermm:

colicab-d 10-26-2003 11:01 AM

heehee ive seen scots development area of the vbsite , theres at least ooh 4 styles that kier has made for the rc. A few are a bit weird, but theres a really unique and fresh one that i hope they use... :D lets say blue / yellow and from what i could see wood?? :D

sabret00the 10-26-2003 11:22 AM

i wasn't invited to preview the skins :(

insanctus 10-26-2003 11:23 AM

I would not use them anyhow. To me the skins/styles they toss in do me no good.

assassingod 10-26-2003 11:25 AM

Dave, you've seen them :eek::eek:

i wouldn't either but it's good to see how they go about acheiving stuff via skins.

i mean even custom skins are just the default torn to bits and twisted out

Zelda-King 10-27-2003 09:55 AM

Gold has an estimated release date of Christmas 2003 so RC would be out before then.

colicab-d 10-27-2003 08:18 PM

yeah i seen em :D we sat in costas me , pie vile and scott, scot showed us some of the behind the scenes vb site and we laffed at ib workers in McDonalds :D

Zelda-King 10-31-2003 10:10 AM

They're saying RC1 is to be released late November with GOLD probably not that far behind. Better details next week.

Which is why they told people to not yet create any hacks, because chances were (and until RC1, are) that you will have to do a lot of rewriting of your code or templates once RC1 comes out. :)

Haha, the blue/yellow/wood style was just Kier playing around with funky bbtitle images about 2 years ago!

Needless to say, this will not be the bbtitle image or the bg color.

sabret00the 10-31-2003 04:35 PM

looks a bit like jupiter
