Hapedit: See my sig

why?

It color-codes php code
It has a search function
Programmers: It will higlight the beginning and end of a block of "{" "}" and "(" ")"
Programmers: when you use the "$" Sign, pop up a list of variables used in the script (if you're programming)
It's free!
Zend Studio. There's a free personal edition with no excuse on not using it unless you have a really old computer.

SmEdD 09-07-2003 11:14 PM

I love Dreamweaver MX and soon to get MX 2004. It is a costly peice of software but it is worth it.

blakkboy 09-08-2003 12:09 AM

anybody else????

noppid 09-08-2003 01:01 AM

PHP Expert editor.

I have to agree with filburt. Ever since PHPEd was bought I went to Zend Studio and haven't complained since. It's easy with syntax highlighting and the trust of being built by the makers of PHP.

blakkboy 09-08-2003 02:16 PM

Dean C 09-08-2003 02:39 PM

Zend studio here too :)

Ultra-edit is ok too (loads faster..)

Serge 09-08-2003 07:31 PM

Only problem I have seen with Zend studio is when I switched I was used to the variables being bold and black but in Zend you can make anything bold so its kind of hard to get used to but you don't look like someone that has gotten used to anything so I would say Zend or Homesite from Macromedia.

Zachery 09-08-2003 08:01 PM

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX is nice IMO
openedit

blakkboy 09-08-2003 11:47 PM

EditPlus 2 beats them all hands down. With it's FTP being built in, I edit files right from the server. ;)

filburt1 09-09-2003 12:16 AM

Have you used Zend Studio? For that matter, have you used any IDE written in the last five years with now-common expectations such as IntelliJ IDEA (best Java IDE ever!), JBuilder, etc.? For the love of God, 90% of these PHP "IDEs" don't even include function popups.

EditPlus 2 does everything I need to do without any problems. I tried Zend Studio a while back and didn't like it. I use EditPlus 2 for all of my ASCII file editing, For the love of God, not just PHP. ;)

blakkboy 09-09-2003 12:54 AM

Dakkon 09-09-2003 04:47 PM

I used Zend Studio before and installed on this computer.. but still, I prefer Ultraedit over any editors.

Funny thing because other magazine stated that Ultraedit are one of the best editors.

shrugs, it is largely depend on individual's preference.

KuraFire 10-17-2003 09:52 AM

EditPlus 2, my fave :)

This thread hasn't been commented on in a while so I pose the question, has anyone used phpED to develop vb addons and applications?
