I've used this before. Not bad, though I prefer just instant messaging.

It's absolutely free. Though, you only wonder if they'll keep that policy for the future. :rolleyes:

As for adware, I don't know any P2P free from it completely. I bet Ad-aware could find something.

There is another one (not p2p but still cool) called TeamSpeak 2. Its like mIRC but you can have voice conversations.

Its not going to stay free. They will grab up marketshare and then make the push to paid, and will be prepared to loose 22 to 40% of their market share in the transition.

This is standard operating protocol.

I have installed Ventrilo (php) on my server and can now have VoiceOverIP CONFERENCING. Works like PalTalk but you can provide direct link to your conference room. One thing to note is that some of my users have been unable to unstall on some (maybe older hardware) machines.

As for Skype, when it works, it works great. There ARE times when, for some reason, conversation become intolerably chopped up.

Curiouis if anyone has heard of any other skype-like tools.

SubDuck, are you still using Ventrilo? Have you compared with TeamSpeak? I used Ventrilo for a while. Then got away from it because unless I can give some indication on FP of howmany and/or who are currently online with either one, they aren't motivated to install and try.

What would REALLY be useful would be a way to Instant Message a person currently online. PM is good but not as real time as IM.

To all who are using it:

iam on ISDN, will i get a 'good call' or will i have low quality when i call someone on DSL?
