How many pages does your forum have in Google?

I just checked - my private forums now has:

Results 1 - 10 of about 51,300. Search took 0.37 seconds.

N9ne 08-31-2003 11:06 AM

How do I check? Do I just type in the domain?

Dan 08-31-2003 11:16 AM

Yep N9ne

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,960. Search took 0.21 seconds

Xenon 08-31-2003 11:36 AM

You type in this in the Google search box:

yourdomain site:yourdomain.com

And search that. :)

Erwin 08-31-2003 11:42 AM

For example, doing this for vBulletin.org:

vbulletin site:vbulletin.org

Gave us:

Results 1 - 10 of about 26,500. Search took 0.20 seconds.

:)

Xenon 08-31-2003 12:00 PM

damn, why do you get more results than me with same query? :( :( ^^

N9ne 08-31-2003 12:02 PM

I see, well I had my forums closed to guests and they've been gone for 2/3 weeks now so I won't be in google anymore with that (I got or at least google tried to spider me everyday, so now they notice it's a page not found, they'll remove me).

Dan 08-31-2003 01:30 PM

well then mine was wrong....

only lost a few hundred

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,850. Search took 0.46 seconds

filburt1 08-31-2003 01:43 PM

8,390, if I did it right.

shorty 08-31-2003 03:10 PM

1 - 10 of about 254. Search took 0.05 seconds

:( :disappointed:

MaDCaT75 08-31-2003 05:47 PM

I'm proud to say I have zero.

Dpcows 08-31-2003 06:33 PM

Every page there is and that is 12 pages..

NTLDR 08-31-2003 06:36 PM

Results 1 - 10 of about 18,000. Search took 0.24 seconds.

SmEdD 08-31-2003 06:48 PM

Results 1 - 10 of about 522. Search took 0.35 seconds.

PixelFx 08-31-2003 07:03 PM

I get 1 through 5 if I type accordtuner :classic:

vbulletin site:accordtuner.com = 1-2 of 2 so I have all of them, heh...

SnowBot 08-31-2003 07:30 PM

Results 1 - 3 of about 21. Search took 0.15 seconds

How do i get more ?

N9ne 08-31-2003 09:21 PM

Hmm, google is very quick at spidering. My new forum which isn't 'open' yet has already been spidered and put into google, kinda quick.

insanctus 08-31-2003 09:27 PM

Results 1 - 10 of about 723.

Not to bad for a 6 month old site.

I prefer this syntax

allinurl: vbulletin.org

AndreaBash 09-01-2003 03:08 AM

I have 3... and none of them are for my forums. My forum is completely locked down, but I still get guests. Weird that the forum isn't there.

Chris M 09-01-2003 06:53 AM

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,960. Search took 0.18 seconds

Hmmm:p

Thats DarkBlazes;)

Both of my other sites do not appear (as they aren't public yet:p)

EvilLS1 09-01-2003 07:18 AM

No, use this:

accordtuner site:accordtuner.com

When I did it, I got this:

Results 1 - 10 of about 75

:)

Remember, the format is:

yourdomain site:yourdomain.com

I prefer this syntax

allinurl: vbulletin.org

Using that syntax gives you a smaller number.

For example, let's use:

accordtuner.com

as an example.

With your method, I could only get:

1 - 4 of about 51

Using my method, I got a lot more.

Also, with my private forums, using your method, I got:

Results 1 - 10 of about 50,200

Using my method, I got:

Results 1 - 10 of about 51,000

The method I use is a method that a few SEO's posted at a SEO forum a few years ago where I used to moderate. :)

SVTBlackLight01 09-01-2003 11:26 AM

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,570. Search took 0.21 seconds.

shovel 09-02-2003 05:07 AM

FFDiscovery.com: Results 1 - 10 of about 561. Search took 0.23 seconds.

FFRepublic.com: Results 1 - 10 of about 164. Search took 0.12 seconds.

Steve Machol 09-02-2003 05:16 AM

Hmmm...only got 46 for my site and none of them are the forums themselves. I allow guests to view my forums so I wonder what's wrong?

Actually, Dave, I have to admit that I may be wrong.

Right now, if I use this format for my private forums:

domainname.com site:domainname.com

I get:

Results 1 - 10 of about 52,700

However, using your method:

allinurl: domainname.com

I get:

Results 1 - 10 of about 53,100

So your method is at the moment giving me more pages. :)

Bottom line: Try both methods and take both figures as they are.

If you are using vB2 still, that's the problem. Without using a SE-friendly hack to change your URLs the Google spider won't spider your pages, basically because of the sessionhashes.

It's better in vB3, where sessionhashes are automatically disabled for Google.

For my forums, I am using vB3 with my very own SE-URL hack, and I've disabled sessionhashes completely.

noppid 09-02-2003 04:05 PM

We're building slowly...

Results 1 - 10 of about 14. Search took 0.38 seconds

N!ck 09-02-2003 06:27 PM

775 :p

Sue 09-02-2003 07:10 PM

Thanks Erwin. That's what I thought. I'm waiting for a final style before upgrading to vB3.
