31 Queries on forum home
 

Erm is 31 queries bad for forumhome ?
i've added filberts and xenons optimisation hacks
is there anything else i can do to optimise them

i seen that Vbulletin.org only has average of 17/18 queries per page

Try uninstalling unnesaccery hacks they may cause lots of queries.

If it doesn't load slow, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine has 30 and loads just fine. :)

i know what u mean Jdmuniverse by thing is am worried about server load

I have both Filburt's and Xenon's optimization hacks(as well as a few other things) and mine only has 21 queries.

whats the few other things @ Cirisme i'd be interested to know because i want mine down too

They're mostly improvements to my own hacks, like the POTD and chat hacks. I also added a few things to Xenon's caching, for instance the most active thread thing that is not included by default, as well as the top posters/thread starters. Nothing big.

It's weird that you have 31 queries considering the optimization hacks you've done. Any other hacks you have installed that are not affected by those optimization hacks?

Thanks! It's basically a hacked version of TWTCommish's shoutbox for the portal shoutbox.(I just copied it to shoutbox2.php, and changed the templates it uses so it would fit in the small area, and I also deleted the stats queries since they're unnecessary)

EDIT: I just took a look at your site. It looks like you're kinda running a lightweight portal with the top 10 stats stuff. .27 seconds with 27 queries(which is what it was for me as a logged out user) isn't bad for what you've got.

well its not too bad now i narrowed it down to 27after getting rid of a few hacks and replacing them with template versions plus i changed the vb3 last post hack (krakkens) for Ppns version
at one point i was at 37 queries :o

27 logged in 25 logged out
and thats with like nearly 100 hacks installed :D

taking out the search index made it extremely faster i used the mysql 4 search engine hack in the beta forum its excellent :D

as already stated, you can reduce a lot of queries, but just if you are a good hacker ;)

i've optimized vb.org's main page as far as possible, but just because i know the hacks it uses and tried to cache as much as possible without loosing dynamic.

But never forget: sometimes it's better to have two fast queries than one slow.

On my vB3 forumhome, despite multiple hacks, I only have 9 queries. Amazing, but true. :)

i wanna upgrade to vb3 but the amount of hacks i got some of em are made redundent of course but theres a few like the arcade hack that i would like to see on vb3

well just wanted to add that i did get it down to 25 queries on forumhome with 23 logged out
