X-Box!
 

I just got an X-Box...and will get to play with it tonight. Also got Halo and a demo DVD of Ghost Recon. I am now one of the many ;)

And I paid with my PayPal debit card...:D

Heh.. I finished Halo last week.
It's a great game. I'm not a big FPS fan, but damn.. :)

My brother is currently playing through Legendary mode, and that looks to be near impossible.

Not bad.

On the bad side of them they are just PC's really. but on the good side, the games are amazing.

Halo is a great game, expecially to play online, enjoy! dont expect to see you much around here.

Bah, Ps2 has much better games.

Well the thing is my PC right now (P3-933 with 512 MB and a GF3) does crappy in games. The only way I can make it do better is get a new graphics card, but then the processor would be the cap so it wouldn't help much. I'd have to overhaul the entire thing to get it up to spec. So a $180 XBox was the way to go ;)

Do you have a Playstation 2?

GameCube > PS2 > x-Box

LOL, you got the order way wrong, at least in order of hardware:

X-Box > PS2 (although I hate Sony for many reasons) > Gamecube

Gamecube is cool, though, but Halo is good so therefore an X-Box is, too. Halo with linked X-Boxes in the same room with two TVs is great...I did that once with a four-player vs. four-player CTF match :D

If you'd take the time out to analyze the good games on each console you can clearly see Playstation come out on top. I'm in no way a PS2-only fan, but I chose to go with that console as it has many great games on it.

As for GameCube, I'm glad to see it's getting better but personally in my opinion the games aren't up to the level of the likes of PS2 and Xbox (some of the games).

I agree that x-Box has some good games, such as Halo, but the main thing I dont like about it, is its size. The controllers looks like they were designed by a blind man with 12" long fingers. The console itself is rather large too.

I like the GameCube and PS2 for 2 main reasons, its size and power. Both are compact so they can be stored anywhere, and their power is prett good. I am also impressed by the size of the discs (GC) I cant remember the exact size (8mm IIRC) but it can hold 1.5GB of info, so thats cool.

im not a fan of the xbox when it comes to size too but get a Controller-S... thats the american controller, much smaller and nicer.

All I'm saying is that X-Box has the most powerful hardware of any console. That's not an opinion, that's statistics. Whether you like a different console is irrelevant.

Actually I like Microsoft...hardware. I have a keyboard, mouse, and now game system from them, and my experiences with the first two is 100% perfect.

Besides, turning this thread into a heated debate will (1) not make me return my XBox, and (2) make me close the thread to stop the flames. :)

The XBox is huge, true, but then again, it's a PC crammed in there :D

I could always dismantle it and cloak it inside my PC...that would be uber :cool:

Bah, I was a big supporter of the ps2 until my frist one's laser bruned out. I bought anthor one witch lasted 5 weeks before the laser bruned out. Sony wants $300 each to fix them. :laugh:

For now all I have is my gamecube, but im getting a xbox soon. :).

On a side note: Yes I did try fixing one of the ps2's but the laser is gone, un-fixable unless I pay for it. The other one I havent messed with yet, still has the seal on it and it's really not mine (its my dads :laugh: ).

That laser problem you have, sounds like you were very unlucky. I've got 7 mates who have Playstation 2's and have never had that problem (including me). I'm sure you could've got a 3rd party laser unit for cheaper, they work too from what i've been told.

to me Micro$**** are money grabbing, hey i got nothing against windows mind u.

So you gonna stick on Linux or keep the normal Xbox OS?

Happens if you leave it in the wrong hands to chip, still aint replaced my laser. And if it is when it was chipped, is it originals or certain types of media?

I don't have an xbox, but do have a PS2 and Gamecube. I rarely play both, since I'm more into computer gaming. But, since I have a craptacular 900mhz notebook with a cheapy ATI video chipset, I can't play much games. I stick with half-life and Warcraft 3. That "Star Wars Galaxies" looks painfully addicting though. :cry:

I'm interested in what this Sony hand-held console, the PSX, is going to be like.

Actually it is very good-looking...on par with today's PC games.

oh and Filby Gc is actually 33% faster than Ps2 which is limited by a shockingly low bandwidth between its graphics gpu and actual cpu.

me i love gamecube :D brilliant wee machine and all this nintendo is for kiddys bs.. jeese are folk forgetting that nintendo are like the worlds best at making long lastin playable games? i mean look how universal mario, metriod, zelda, pokemon are..

anyway im off to play my import mario sunshine that i got for ?7 second hand, as ive just realised how to beat a level im stuck on :D

oh and if you want fps... dont by consoles, by a pc!

I agree with you in any way about PS, X-box and others. I like PS2 better due to games (Xenosaga and Dynasty 4) and GC have good games such as Metriod, Zelda and few), I don't give any a$$ about hardwares (look at nes/snes, these consoles have lowend hardwares yet the games rock) I feel sorry for ignorants though.

I just finished Halo, too. It's spectacular when a Banshee is flying right at you, so you rocket it and it crashes down next to you in a noisy firey crash :)

I got my Xbox on Friday. :) So far I like it about the same as my PS2/Cube... filburt, one game you NEED to get is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

It is the only reason I really bought an Xbox, the game is amazing... if you like Halo, you'll like this one for sure.

I've heard a lot of good things about it but I never really liked the Star Wars games...:(

I'm going to buy a bunch tomorrow when I get an oil change...I'm going to probably get Quantum Redshift and every demo DVD in the store :p

Me ive been playing Phantasy STar Online for me cube a lot, brill game cant wait to get it online.

Filby buy yerself Phantasy Star Online for xbox , www.pso-world.com , really you,ll never play anything else again.

oh and yeah star wars not my cup of tea.. last one i played was rogue squadron on the n64, which was fun then the novelty ran out 5 mins later

I been trying to find super mario RPG for my SNES emulator (yes I own the actual cartrige but it doesnt work anymore). Cant find it anywhere thou.
