TECK announced that TeckWizards was closing a month or so ago, but I cannot remember the reason why.

sabret00the 08-05-2003 11:57 PM

he did :-S

base 08-05-2003 11:59 PM

concentrating on vBPublish i believe, or whatever his new portal/cms system is (sounds hellishly good btw)

sabret00the 08-06-2003 12:07 AM

aye it does, also sounds very daring with vb and ntldr gonna launch their own cms'

base 08-06-2003 12:14 AM

well, it is going to be a standalone app from what i read - and there are plenty of those on the market already, this time with a 'teck' edge, vbhome rocks, i see no reason for vbpublish not to :)

sabret00the 08-06-2003 12:16 AM

as long as it has photopost pro and vb integration capabilities i'm all for it

Erwin 08-06-2003 01:55 AM

The more the merrier. Competition is always good.

vfxtalk 08-06-2003 12:18 PM

so... where does vBHome live now ?? :(

and... why didnt i receive any email notification of these responses ??

Cheers guys!!!
Paul

PS: Is there a list of all the vBulletin spin-off sites like teckwizards, phpportals, photopost etc etc etc .. ??

Cheers again!!! :D

Dean C 08-06-2003 12:30 PM

TeckWizard's closed officially on the 1st. I assume the domain expired in the last day or so :)

Chris M 08-06-2003 02:16 PM

You will not need anymore photopost since we will have our own gallery system + links + articles + reviews + polls + top sites + paid advertising (advert campaigns, like all large sites have in their news) + friendly URLs for search engines + WYSIWYG editing of all aspects, posts etc. + HiveMail and vBulletin integrations... and much more, all nicelly wrapped in a XHTML code compatible for all 4.x browsers.
The main page should orbit around 10queries. ;)

We hope to have vPublish released in about 4-6 months.
vPublish will be fully compatible with vBulletin (login, user information and private messages). We also plan to integrate HiveMail into it.

vbHome (lite) will become vPublish (lite), a very small script that will be more like a test front page, before you purchase the full vPublish version, just to make sure you don't have any surprises related to installation or server compatibility.

The full version will have basically the following sections (it can be integrated with vBulletin database, or vice-versa):
- news (articles and comments)
- reviews
- links
- photos gallery
- archives (search engine friendly URLs for the above sections)
- RSS backend

The estimated retail price is $130 for an unsupported license and $190 for the one with full technical support.
Each license grants you the right to install vPublish for one domain or database only. Licenses can be renewed yearly for the modic price of $30, they entitle you to upgrade downloads and other special offers related to vPublish. Installation fees will be $100.

The forums will be available for members to discuss with other members issues related to unsupported licenses. We will provide ono-on-one support to members who purchased the supported licenses.

Rest assured that there will be a very detailed online manual related to installation and other options included in the unsupported license, as well as tutorials for unclear steps or extra customizations.

Unsupported license holders will have an option to purchase "one time use only" support licenses for a $30 fee each, if they cannot get their answer from the forums, in order to resolve their problem. You can purchase as many individual support licenses you want. Each support license can be used for one issue only and expires when each case is closed.

Basically, it's more economical to purchase the supported license, since you will receive support for as long you own your server license.

The installation will be extremely easy, with no server configuration or other complex modifications. Basically, the install will be resumed only to files upload and the automated installer process.

SmEdD 08-28-2003 02:58 AM

Ouch 130 for unsupported. Thats definatly way to steep for a portal. You should think of making one without a gallery and have Photopost integration for alot less.

GuruXL 08-28-2003 05:45 AM

First off its not a portal.
Second, if you don't want to pay it you don't have to, TECK isn't doing this for charity. He needs to get a return on the investment of his time and money he puts into his scripting...so if you have a problem paying that...tough noogies...

PixelFx 08-28-2003 08:32 AM

Drools, ;)

I'll be happy if it supports vb 2.3.2 and or vb 3.0.0, since I own photopost and wouldn't want to waste my licence when I buy vpublish, it would be nice if it could toggle it's internal gallery on or off. and support photopost intergration for argument sake ;)

;)

TECK 08-28-2003 02:21 PM

It will work with VB 2.x and 3.x versions.

It will not be done, since it's an independent script. Why hack the files when you can have it all in one piece? And the integration with HiveMail/VB will not require any file modifications, it's a simple yes/no select option in the installer.

No ++++, I know he's not a charity but when you live in Canada 130 is like 200 and the is no support. Also I don't need the photo gallery which I think would of been the biggest part so I was saying there should be another script without it.

Xelation 08-28-2003 04:57 PM

teckwizards.com is now cpublish.com

TECK 08-29-2003 03:24 AM

Nope. ;) It's cpublisher.com = Content Publisher

GuruXL 08-30-2003 06:24 PM

when will it be active, I want to be the first one to sign up and buy a license.

DrkFusion 08-31-2003 02:19 AM

what happend to cPublish.com I saw discussions about this, and it was available, its shorter too.

assassingod 08-31-2003 07:48 AM

Someone bought it.

Chris M 08-31-2003 10:51 AM

Someone bought both cPublish and vPublish...

Heh, that's not the actual name of the script... is cPublisher.
Here it is a little teaser... enjoy (web design by my friend Everaldo and of course, Alex aka DirectPixel).
Sorry for the bad colors, I was to lazy to save it in 32 bits...

PixelFx 08-31-2003 10:57 PM

looks good :)

Erwin 09-01-2003 05:50 AM

Indeed... looks very good. :) Is this going to compete with Jelsoft's official vBCMS?

assassingod 09-01-2003 06:02 AM

Very nice TECK:)

GuruXL 09-01-2003 08:07 AM

TECK, you never cease to amaze me, when its release I want to have the first copy! I mean it! I have $280 save up simply to buy this script!

I don't know what are Jelsoft's plans for their CMS, so I cannot say it will compete.
CP is a stand alone product that will be compatible also with HiveMail and VB, without any hacking involved.

I would say 5-6 months before first beta is done. So far the script engine files and installer is completed... I work on the admin CP right now...

GuruXL 09-04-2003 07:43 AM

TECK, I look forward to it.

I am wondering though, how is the information you add displayed? Categories? Articles In Categories? Can you elaborate on this?

I am wondering though, how is the information you add displayed? Categories? Articles In Categories? Can you elaborate on this?

1. News categories with articles + advertisement system integrated in the first post (like any large web site)
2. Links categories with links (like Google)
3. Photo categories with photo galeries
4. Reviews categories with reviews + advertisement system integrated in the first post (like any large web site)
5. Poll
6. Top Sites
7. Archives
8. HiveMail email integration (activated with a simple switch)
9. VB forums integration (activated with a simple switch)
10. Search engine friendly URL's (activated with a simple switch)

You can create advert accounts, for your users, payed in advance for a certain period of time. A system is to be developed for 2CheckOut and PayPal.

Those are so far the scratch options.. but there will be much more when the final product is out. :) We will see...

sabret00the 09-04-2003 05:25 PM

does sound good, i would love a sneak peak of the index.php
