THIS HACK IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED FROM ME !!!

I just released my new version 2.0 for VBulletin 3.0.x which can be found here.

This modification will help you to integrate DigiChat 4.0 with VBulletin 2.3.0.

Background information:
I have searched vbulletin.org for a corresponding hack and the only hacks i could find were about implementing the JAVA applet from DigiChat into VBulletin. This was too simple. I created this hack, because i needed an integration for my community. The problem i was facing every time i tried to integrate a custom hack from me, that i will not be able to update VBulletin to another version without destroying my custom hack.

So my aim was and still is:
- do not alter vbulletin files
- if i have to alter vbulletin files than keep it down to a minimum
- DO NOT ALTER THE VBULLETIN DATABASE ( important for any upgrades of vbulletin )
- do not create an additional database for the chat ( KISS = keep it simple and stupid )
- use the existing databsse for chat profiling options
- do not alter existing vbulletin templates
- use additional templates for administration

I think i have managed it quite good, because the only file that has to be modified is member.php from the
vbulletin directory. So all other features are created in separated files or templates WITHOUT altering the
database.

This version already includes the buddylist plugin which has been developed by Gatekeeper.
Thanks for helping me here ;-) !! He will also develop the plugin for the chatmaster buddylist.

Future Update to this version will be:
- integration of chatmaster login ( done in Version 1.1 )
- integration of Buddylist in chat for Chatmasters
- integration of pic upload for the chatprofile

Estimated Time for the implementation of this Hack:

If you are familiar with Vbulletin AND DigiChat: 12 minutes
If you are NOT familiar with VBulletin or Digichat 30-45 minutes

It is a german site but i have implemented the "TECH_english" style for foreigners. Please be aware of that you can only change the chatprofile in the "Grafisch_Deutsch" style because this hack is in development. I will implement the hack to all styles in the next 2 weeks.

Update Version 1.1:

The integration of the chatmaster login has been done. Please read the new lines in the install.txt how to implement this new feature.

But in short words:
- all chatmaster accounts should have (CM) at the end
- replace the old index.php in the DigiChat folder with the new one
- if you wish any other groups just edit the new index.php to add new groups to be able to see the new login

I will add a screenshot at the end of this thread to show you the new login window.

it depends on the cookie. I am checking $bbuserinfo[variables] to check if the user is registered or not.

If a user is a member he will automatically will be logged into the chat with his or her forum username.

If the user is not a member than the member can choose a chat nickname with the default icon.

I have now added the chatprofile to ALL styles. So you can modify your chatprofile now in every style in your forum profile.

Sorry, but the description of the fields are in german from the database. You can change this to english in your hack.

there have been multiple people on my new domain to check out my hack. Thanks for your interest so far.

But some people have asked for an integration into IRC chat. That shouldn't be a problem. You just have to modify the chatlauncher.php to be able to redirect into an IRC chat.

I will see, if i can provide an update for IRC chat users later on.

Any help you be appreciated because i have no clue about IRC chats because i do not like them. I used them and that's all.

I have questions like:
What information does the IRC chat needs ? Username and what else ? Are there any exitmessages to be defined by the end user ? etc.....

Additionally i do not know if there are not already IRC chat hack out there. I do not want to reinvent the wheel.

i'm wondering, does this hack create threads for each chat session on the forum? That would be my ideal chat program, one which logs chat into a thread view as if it was taking place in a forum rather than achat room, so when i chat session ends, all comments are then insterted into a thread and render the chat into a threaded discussion?

Hi Scri,

no. This hack does not put everything into a thread. This would blow up the database with useless chat sentences.

DigiChat has the ability to log every sentence from the main window but not from the private windows. So if you would like to put this into a thread take the log file and convert this into a thread.

Hi @LL,

i just want to point out that DigiChat is a java based chat which has to be purchased. It has nothing to do with IRC and it is not for free. So please do not contact me to get any license keys which could have been written accidentally in an email or something like that.

I want to provide this hack for webmasters who are combining DigiChat and a VBulletin forum on a legal way.

You got it. You don't have it implemented in the vbulletin but on any of your server you would like to connect to. My Hack integrates the DigiChat with the VBulletin to create a forum and chat community.

Will this work for users behind a firewall? I tried your site from here in work but got an error when trying to login to the chat?

it's correct. You can not login into my chat from behind a firewall. I didn't had the time to install the tunneling option from DigiChat. DigiChat supports HTTP tunneling.

There is several software out there enable tunneling for DigiChat but i didn't choose any yet. I will start this update in the next couple of weeks. But this has nothing to do with my hack. This is a DigiChat function. If you have http tunneling enabled for your DigiChat or not my hack will work.

So enjoy it.

i have been asked to port my hack to vb 3.0. At the moment i am not running vb 3.0 RCx. As soon as all versions are stable and most of the hacks have been ported to vb 3.0 i will also upgrade to vb 3.0 and this will include a new version of this hack.
