Malacious AIM attacks?
 

Has anyone had any malacious attacks on AIM recently? Just a few minutes ago I was warned all the way up to 100% and was forced to disconnected. Now I can't sign in to AIM.

This happened a while ago to me but not to 100%

Anyone else had the trouble? Its really annoying.

It's good fun too though if both of you participate. :)

Takes ages for you to get it down too. :p

To stop it, just make sure you don't talk to anyone you don't know. They can't warn you if you don't speak to them.

I hadn't been speaking to anyone though, I was just online :confused:

Stupid AIM features.

Just set AIM to only allow people on your buddy list. I don't know how people can ever get anything done if they have those damned windows opening all the time...

I also only have coworkers on my buddy list. That way, if they start AIMing me, I can drive the less-than-one-mile to NASA, get through the security gate with my contractor's badge, and personally beat the living s*** out of them. Then I can get shot by a security guard. :)

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know AIM was so feature-full, i'll apply the new setting as soon as it lets me sign-in :mad:

Filburt, I can get stuff done while being on AIM because I can talk with my away message up. (yay for macs! my away doesn't send everytime they say something, either) That way, I only talk to those I want to speak to by me messaging them.:)

gAim for linux allows you to talk with your away message up :P

BTW, sounds like an exploit, did you update to the latest aim? Maybe email aol about it (:lol:) and they can fix it

Well about a week ago for 2 consecutive days on AIM i had malicious attacks not where i'm being warned but the user just types in:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Trys to direct connect to me, send me a file and every other possible feature on aim. After shutting down all the windows and blocking them they come back again under a new username.

It was particularly annoying :)

Never had an attack like that, only with people I know.
