Pop-Up Ad Program Driving Me Nuckin Futs!!!
 

Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/advice/whatever to help me find and remove a pop-up ad generator from my computer? I have no idea how this thing got on my computer (though I suspect my girlfriend accidentally downloaded it), but it's about to drive me crazy. I'm positive there's some kind of program on my computer since the banners pop up when I'm not even browsing. I've tried looking through the processes that are running and ending just about every one of them, but nothing seems to work. I think I did manage to find one or two since I removed a couple of programs and they seem to be popping up less often, but I've still got one on here somewhere... Does anyone have any advice on how I could find this last one an remove it??? ANY help would be MUCH appreciated.

I have AdAware Pro 6, tis great.

There's not anything in AdAware that will actually find the program on my computer so I can remove it is there? Of course a pop-up blocker would be a solution, but I'd much rather find the program and remove it instead...

Ad Aware will do this.

I got a pop-up thing on my computer and adaware doesn't detect it... I've also tried spybot search & destroy and it doesn't even find it

You are most likly running kazaa, get Kazaa lite.

I am running kazaa lite..... its little popups that happen near my clock.

I got these popups when I installed kazaa lite after I had old kazaa. I fuylly cleared old kazaa and installed kazaa lite. This was my only source of popups

Older versions of Kazaa Lite can still spawn popups because the IE control embedded in it can run Javascript to do it. Two options:

1. Upgrade to the latest Kazaa Lite
2. On that first tab, press Refresh and then instantly Stop. That'll abort any JS from loading.

Not sure but Pest Patrol might help. http://www.pestpatrol.com/ It helps find and get rid of ad software, cookies, trojans and more.

I also like it because it has a little program for finding keyloggers. All it does is tell you every program that is recording your keystrokes. lol It always warns me about my mouse software but as a site owner I would rather it go over board then miss something.

I use Ad-Aware. It's free and it works well.

It's already been mentioned, but Ad-aware would do the trick :D

theirs something in some of the OS's that you can remove too, in the administrative tools, go to where it says messenger and stop that process

I also use AdAware, but it does not remove all little pop ups in your browser. I have run into this problem and the only solution is a pop up blocker. I use an older freeware version from http://www.panicware.com which doesn't allow the popups to actually pop up. Works well.
