Members with huge post counts...

Some one was shocked that we have a member with over 17K worth (in ten months), and actually a real high percentage of good ones in there (makes up for my efforts).

Anyone got some one with even more? We are now wondering what the top poster at any site might have. There's some big boards out and vaguely remember running across a site where some one had just gone through 40k (cybertech l think, or might be some one else).

Okay this excludes John Mac who probably has a few hundred k in answering ticket questions at vb.com

Tony G 06-09-2003 10:31 AM

17K is 10 months? Woah, this person either spammed or alot or spent alot of time thinking up thoughful posts. ;)

N9ne 06-09-2003 03:17 PM

Spammer...gotta be, or has no life.

My forum's been open for 11 months and my top poster has something like 5200 posts...I have 43 members with 1000+ posts though, quite balanced.

cirisme 06-09-2003 03:29 PM

We've been open since February, and our top poster has 5500 posts. :D

Dean C 06-09-2003 03:36 PM

Lets check admin cp.... haven't checked the top posters in a while :P...

hmmm

Top poster = 4197posts

Top admin poster (there's two of us) = 1829 (tis not me either ;))

We have people who like to talk alot N9ne :) Now have three over the 10k mark and a couple more almost there. Helps if you can rapid fire quotes from Brit tv shows on occasion

Should add we haven't got post count turned off in any forum, so include the actual total post count which is available somewhere in vBulletin. We haven't needed to use it, but know you can get a listing somehow.

Of interest it appears that purely tech sites have lower post counts and more members than non-tech sites. Haven't got any facts or figures to back that one up. :)

filburt1 06-09-2003 11:01 PM

Tech sites are geared towards getting answers and then end of conversation, not random chatter.

base 06-10-2003 12:02 AM

I've noticed there is a tendancy for people to try and intergrate themselevs into the community quite quickly, thats not to say that their posts have no substance, but I do notice some people posting very frequently at first and then slowing down as they become more comfortable.

kinda off topic but just an observation from running a board.

oh and our top poster is ihcra (who else) 3449 posts

Jethro 06-10-2003 02:07 AM

filburt, very true our tech site tends to have a high percentage of threads to posts. Though a few people are talking away in our chat/lounge forum, which doesn't add to their post count.

Still waiting on the huge counts :)

Erwin 06-10-2003 02:24 AM

My second in command has 15,000 posts over 2 years at my private forums. :) She doesn't spam.

Tony G 06-10-2003 11:10 AM

And I thought I was a spammer ;). I have on a paricular forum about 10.5k posts since December 2000. :)

At vBT I have 5k posts and I really only started posting there seriously since August 2002. But I help alot...yeah. ;)

A good poster with great posts is the best thing to have on your forums. :D

filburt1 06-10-2003 12:20 PM

I only started posting a lot when I became a mod here a few months ago, but many of them are "Search and ye shall find" because we have some lazy hackers. ;)

blackice912 06-10-2003 06:08 PM

One person at my forums has 14,837 posts and he joined like...four months ago.

N9ne 06-10-2003 06:12 PM

How is it physically possible to post so much!

JustAskJulie 06-10-2003 06:41 PM

I am my top poster on my site. It's been open for over 3 years and I only have just over 4000 posts. The #2 poster is only about 300 posts behind me with 2 years on the board.

Oddly enough tho, lately we've had a lot of new members coming in that have broken the 100 or 200 post mark in just a few weeks, so who knows where they will be in 11 months.

Jethro 06-10-2003 08:32 PM

N9ne depends on the site. Some people just really get into answering questions and talking about what's happening, or debating. I'm dropping off our top ten at a rapid rate, cause debates on gun control etc aren't really my thing. But it is interestng to get views from both sides of the debate, and as ever there are decent arguements from both sides.

Starting to think the people with the huge member counts probably don't have time to post here or something.

CyberTechHelp (not my forums, post there occasionally) look like they will have some people with massive counts by the end of the year. There's some people there that really know their stuff and are firing off answers at an amazing rate. Which is slightly disappointing to the rest of us, every time l go to answer a question some one has already beaten me to the answer. One of these days their top guys are going to be sleeping and l can get an answer in

Dean C 06-11-2003 01:46 PM

Same here filburt - since i became mod i've began posting even more and this is the most active forum i'm at :)

Just grabbed that off my members list, got a ton in the 500-3000 range

The funny thing about the top guy, we do not ban, but we put people in the penality box, he spends a bout a week on the forums, than two weeks in the box, - been that pattern for a year now (I like the guy, he is ok, just an ass on the forums at times :))

jamoss 06-15-2003 03:12 AM

Our top poster has 13357

I know a board with many members above 50,000 posts... the top member reached the 65536 post limit and they had to modify the board cause it stopped counting... Too bad I can't give you the address so you can see it for yourself :(

They removed all type of records and member lists cause people kept coming and coming just to see it... they also limited registration...

Here's a screenshot of who's online:

And no spam?

Must have got a big members base quite quickly.

Chris M 10-09-2003 08:19 PM

I currently have 4,288 on my own site - My days of ultra-mass posting are over...

I have had a post count of over 100 thousand before - It is not hard to post alot, especially when you are in a community where new members get about 500 posts in under a day...

I usually got about 1,000 posts per day, and the site in question was in existence for about 5 months...

That figure varied - It was usually more at the weekends, and less during the week - I assure you that it is easy...:p
