What languages do you speak?
I have to know Russian, Enlish, Latvian, German, Old Slavic, Latin and last but not least - Sanskrit, which I'm learning at the moment. It makes a couple of them, doen't you think? Not to say I'm proud of them, because I have to carry all of them and dedicate some time not to forget how they sound ) :knockedout:
|
I only speak english... I tried to learn some japanese but gave up because of no time to continue learning it.
|
bavarian:), german, english, a bit french, nearly nothing of latin, and i wanted to learn japanese, but didn't find the time... :(
maybe later, and also planned to learn klingon just for fun ^^ |
English, some Spanish. Never going to use Spanish in my professional life, ever, and yet it's required to graduate both high school and college.
|
I'm still working on learning English "real good".
|
english and arabic. thats about it.

Ditto that. ;) I know a bit of Spanish ... er Spanglish. I would like to know more, though. I also know American Sign Language (english/pidgeon), though it's not a "spoken" language. ;) |
Let's see here. I speak...
Although not as fluent with the last 2 languages. |
Only...English. :o
|
English and Spanish. I'd like to learn German (me being German and all), but classes for it aren't taught anywhere locally.
|
Quite a lot from Spain, I see. Never used that, never even needed. Maybe some Italian or I doen't know, Greek?
|
The only two that I can speak fluently are English and Spanish.
|
Fluent in
|
English, and quite a large lot of German and French (apparently:p):)

Well at least i learnt it in school, and i understand some phrases.
At least i can tell you i'll go out today :P |
Haha you can tell me that but you still haven't answered my question... :p
It translates as what have you done today not what are you going to do.. the question you answered would be: Qu'est ce-que ferais-tu aujourd'hui :p Still i think its a gift to speak many languages :) - miSt |
times are so irrelevant :)
I still think like Nietzsche: it's a waste of time to learn many languages. You can invest the time much better... |
You really think that? To be able to communicate with people is a gift that we were given genetically (or by God, if you believe in that)...
To be able to communicate to people from other countries/cultures is a wonderful thing and i personally consider that one of the greatest and most enjoyable things one can do. :) - miSt |
I speak English, Some Macedonian, Some Greek and Most Italian.
|
Dean one language is enough to comunicate.
You don't need more, or if you want then two. one for your own and one global language (in these days called english) No more languages are needed, and it's a waste of time to learn them. |
It should be "Qu'est ce que tu as fais aujourd'hui" Mist :D
Aieeeeee, not on my head ..... :p |
I'm fluent in three major languages; German, Catalan, English. Lol. That's good enough to have been born in Spain, live in America, and being a soon_to_be German citizen.

@shovel: where in germany you plan to live? |
Grog - When i say that to my french friend (renaud) who you may know? :) He answers me and doesn't correct me so i assumed it was right :)
|
Because technically it is correct;)
Just Bastien uses what most french people tend to use, which is the Perfect (Passe Compose) tense, not the Imperfect (L'imparfait);) Besides - That was an obvious reason why;):p Satan |
@Xenon: Probably around Munich or maybe farther north around Nuremberg. Still looking. ;)
|
I don't think using the imperfect in this sentence is really correct in French :-/
And if it may be used, the "tu" should be placed before the "faisais" (with a t and not a s) but if you speak so to a french people, he should understand you ;) @Mist : Yup, I know Renaud (especially for his translation of vbulletin .... ;) ), I have perhaps spoken once or twice with him but no more ... I can't comment more about it, I'm sure my english is really bad at some times :D |
@Dean: understandable and correct are different terms :P
@shovel: ahh, well maybe when i am at my aunt we will see us then ;) |
English and a little bit of Spanish.

hmm, i don't remember exactly where exactly it was.
It was one of the first books i read by him, so either "Also sprach Zarathustra", "Die fröhliches Wissenschaft" or "Menschliches, Allzumenschliches" i think it was "Die fröhliches Wissesnschaft" but as said, not 100% sure where exactly. |
Hah i found it again.
It's in "Menschliches, Allzumenschliches" First Book Aphorism 267 "Viele Sprachen lernen" |
Xenon, you'r the guy!
I'll find it later... know when I know it. I remembered, that I've read that too. |
I speak Greek,english and some dutch :)
|
Je parle en peu francais, ein bisschen deutsch, and a litle bit of English.
|
English and enough street Spanish to get by in Southern California.
|
I can only speak english. I would love to learn a few other languages but I think I would need to live in a place where that language was spoken for me to really absorb it.
