vbulletin VS invisionbaord
right no forum i know has the hacks that vbulletin hacks have thanks to you guys here :)
but alot of my friends are moving to invision board because they use only 9 -11 queries for there main page and pages??? (my friends pages are all like between 9 and 12 max) and i am very jelous and it does seem alot faster on my pals site than what it was with vbulletin ??? i wont move because i cant stand the look of the board .. but anything is tweakable and with good template mods you can do what you like !! please dont flame about this all i am asking is why does vbulletin 3.0 have so many queries when this invisionboard has so little ??? |
vbulletin 3 has 8 queries on the main page
you just have to wait until it's released |
ok that is fantastic :), cant wait untill the new vb3.
thanks for not flaming me :), i thought it was a bit touchy to post this... but really needed to know what was going on with these queries Regards Mickie D |
Xenon's "Optimizing Fourm Home" and my "Homepage Statistics Cache" would probably help you bring the number of queries on your page down while we're waiting on vB3. I have both installed on my site and only have 12 queries (as a guest) on my main forum page. :)
|
thanks tigga, i do use these forum bandwidth life savers i have 19 queries on my main page with lots installed aswell (so its not all bad).
i have the hump with my showthreads as it sometimes hits 29 :( |
You showthread page sometimes hits 29? You may want to double-check that you don't have a query in a loop there. If the number is fluctuation there's a good chance there is a loop somewhere. A good way to test that is to increase the maximum number of posts displayed per page. If the number of queries also increases, then you probably have a query in a loop somewhere. ;)
|
yeah tested it with 20 30 and 50 all hit 29 :(
i am not to worried i will wait until we get the new vb with nice queries :) |
Mickie, we won't flame you.
We're fair, and we know the power of invisionboard :) If vb2 would be perfect, then why would the devs work on vb3? ;) btw 29 queries on showthread is normal (unfortunately) the fluctuation is because of wether you use threadid, forumid or postid in the calling url (lastpost, goto post or just showthread ;)) |

well i don't know the real standard unhacked vb but it differs how you call it, and also if you are a mod/normal user and some other facts :)
most of the time templates which are not in the templatesused are the problem :) |
but when vb3 comes out it will kick invisions boards arse ????
lets hope so :) |
I'm sure it will. I don't remember the specific number of queries on showthread, but I'm pretty sure it was less than half of what it is now. :D
|
hmm dunno both teams have projects going on
Jelsoft has Vb3 Invision has IPB 1.2 will just have to wait and see |
also i have been reading up on the invisionboard... it has plugins ???
i cant quite understand how that will work is that like a hack but you dont have to mod any php files ??? if it is vbulletin should maybe consider this aswell it will be very handy, but i dont mind i have hacked scripts for well over 4 years now so its no trouble for me :) and also will most of the vbulletin pages be under 10 queries or just the main page ?? thanks for all the answers Regards Mickie D |
Most of the files will i think.
they reduced the queries of global.php which affect every page :) pluginsystem was discussed, but hacking can do much more than every plugin, so it was declined. |
thanks for answering my questions and i agree that hacking a board is much better and gives a better level of hacking... but i thought maybe if vbulletin was to bring out there own mods then a plugin would be handy ???
ok then last question :) have vbulletin given a time scale as i have not seen any on here or vbulleti.com for a realease date of VB3 or you being a very wise spokesman for vbulletin would you say it was in the very near future or just wait lmao |
well jelsoft won't make thier own mods for vb, that's why there is vb.org ;)
last question: there is no dateline yet, but the public beta of vb3 is really near as i've heard by some of the devs :) |
