isn't it nice how somebody offers this for free? Its one thing to get the files and use them but to offer them to the world is just silly. I suggest doing something about this.

Yeah I guess that wasn't to smart to post that to the public .

Hey Philly, thanks for letting us know about this :)

You are today's Vb hero!

12-06-2000 08:04 PM

Lovely, Philly...

Nice website... is that yours??

Everyone -- Take a look at his forum... UBB - copyright graphic isn't the regular Infopop copyright graphic...
The only thing that says "Infopop" is the title...

Other than that.... kinda looks pirated... what do you think??

That board on my website is coming down it hasn't even been used its about 5 months old. I purchased vbulletin recently and I posted that link up top because I don't like seeing that kind of thing. The UBB I was using was a hacked up version I found on the web which is no longer supported by UBB anymore. I came accross vbulletin for the first time on a hacker website that is down now but I love it and I purchased it. Trust me there will be many more cases like the link I posted today. I have a couple ideas so if the moderators or sysop could contact me maybe they can be put into place.

ok....

if you can across vBulletin on a hacker's website... how do we know that your copy of vBulletin is a true and purchased vBulletin??

I guess we'll have to have James verify that....

Oh James??

He's on the case already.

:)

*Is a James by any other name still a James?*

:)

It just sounded fishy to me...

Actually I reported his UBB a while back... but I didn't get any response from Brett about it... (he's emailed me back about it serveral other instances).

Piracy = BAD

Yes I am a registered member of vbulletin and my ubb that was located on my board was a ubb lite version which was free and you were allowed to use hacks with it. Recently they stopped supporting hacks for ubb lite version. One aspect I did go wrong with was the graphic at the bottom that I had changed from UBB to my website name. I am against piracy that is why I reported the website I found. I search through hacking sites for new virus information and security issues. If the sysop would like my license info he can email me directly he has my email.

its good to see that somebody has been to my website before :) Not very many people have been to it. When was the last time you were to my website rockergrrl?

12-07-2000 01:55 PM

I was there last night...
I see now if you click on the forum link...its not there....

But the UBB that you had there.... Looked too much like a full version....

I've noticed that finding a Hacked free version of UBB is hard to find on a warez site... its usually Full Version...

So there's reason to believe that it wasn't a free version of UBB...it was a full version...

Usually someone that goes to a warez site... and sees a vBulletin there.. usually they'll ask the owner to send them a copy... I've seen that personally... and I report them all...

But if I hear from James otherwise that you have a valid license... I have all reason to believe that its a pirated version....

But I'm not going to say anymore about it...
So don't get mad at me, for just being suspicious... With everything you've said... I have every right to, I'm just protecting what John and James worked hard to produce. :)

We'll just leave this to James and a private medium...
