Falling in love with Opera all over again
I am playing with Opera 7.11 and I am in love. I gave up on Opera back at version 4 because even though I loved the interface, it had issues I couldn't ignore. This latest version solved all the old problems.
I don't know how I ever lived without mouse gestures! They make surfing so much easier that it's not funny. It's sort of like when the scrolling wheel first came out. Once I got used to it, I hated mice without a scroll wheel. I even made the jump to making Opera my default browser and replaced the IE icon on my XP start menu with Opera. Life is good. One thing I noticed is that there is a debug stylesheet that is really helpful for showing screwed up tables when I am working on my board or other sites. I miss Roboform though :( Opera's built in form-filler isn't quite as good. Roboform was wonderful for creating new accounts at sites because I was able to configure it with my default password of choice. Amy |
Opera sucks - mozilla - now that's a browser ;)

I haven't been able to get into Mozilla. This is a sad thing because O'Reilly sent me a book to review on developing applications for Mozilla, and I just cannot seem to get into it.
Now, the New Rider book on speeding up web sites is a much more fun read and they should have their review soon :D Amy |
i liked mozilla a lot but the fact it has a load up screen was abit iffy personally..

Roboform doesn't work with Opera yet. Only with IE.

Avant Browser is the best hands down. 99.9% of anything that works with IE will work with it, and it has tabs, mouse gestures, built-in popup killer (a pretty damned good one at that) and more. Also, anything that should open in a new window opens in a new tab, so it won't clutter the taskbar.
So, BOOYA! |
What is Roboform?

What the hell did Gator do? |
store passwords and crap... kinda like what auto-complete does in IE now

I've tried Opera, but being I use a browser for the sole purpose of accessing the web, the features of Opera didn't appeal much.
/me sticks with IE. |
Netscape is Ok, but IE is the best...
The only cool thing about Netscape other than it not being a Microsoft deamon-child, is that it has a "Tab Window" feature;) - That is god:p Satan |
Netscape eww.. haven't tried Avant Browser does it support transparent PNGS? Or is this just a shell of IE with a bunch of crap tossed into it?
|
It's basically a shell of IE with crap tossed on it, considering it requires IE 5.5 or higher.
And that's good, since it is able to support the ActiveX thingy for the WYSIWYG editor in vB3 and it actually shows web pages correctly. |
I have to use opera from university unfortunately, and today i have visited a phpmyadmin2.5.0 page with it.
hmm i don't have to say it i think, but it hasn't worked.... very much problems.... But as long as IE works it's ok :) |
You must be running an old version of mozilla ;) ^^

i never mentioned mozilla, i said opera!
and it was version 6.xx |
I could have swore you said mozilla when i read it earlier... :D
[high]* Mist must have been dreamy at college today ;) [/high] - miSt |
in college you should learn, and not dream ^^
and if your are dreaming dream of useful things, and not of mozilla ^^ |
Mozilla/Phoenix/Firebird is much more better, especially if you're a coder who can modify the source to your preferences. It also has mouse gestures, which of course, I use.

"It also has mouse gestures, which of course, I use."
I never use that gimmicks. I even don't need a wheel button on my mouse ^^ |
Opera 7.11 is the bomb. I have Features on it where IE6-Users can dream about!! ;)

What might these features be? |
Features nobody really needs but think that he ever needed them because they are new and unique :p
|
@ integrated Popup-Blocker, Notes (very cool), clever Sitemanagemet-bar, Rewind-Forward-Function, ...
The Browser is much faster and better looking than IE. :) Kars |
Opera is way faster but in general sucks.
Hurray for I.E:D |
I've used all browsers for years. To test compatibility while coding I have most of them installed at all times too. But when it comes to personal taste, MYIE2 is my favorite which I use at all times. It works on IE engine so you have the full technical compatibility of IE in all pages. Moreover it completes all missing features of IE like tabbed interface, skins, popup blocker, enable/disable java/images/sound/scripts with one click, one click proxy surf, one click page translate, configurable advanced options and very customizable etc.
Besides it is not bulky like Mozzilla or Netscape or Opera, it is only 550 Kb. Since it works on IE engine, unlike other browsers you don't start everything from the ground when you install it, like your losing auto-complete fields, auto-saved usernames/passwords, favorites list, history etc. All are shared with your regular IE. And the best part it is FREE. What can I for ask more? :) I say give it a try here especially if you are a power user who likes to have configurable options of your browser handy at all times. |
I found mouse gestures for Windows programs! Works fine in Internet Explorer.
