Tac

TAC. The Anime Corner... I've always wanted to make an anime site, but never really had the endurance, until Vbulletin-powered vbHOme came along! Yay!

http://pgsforum.com

I'm looking for comments on the graphics... mainly.

Also, if you'd like to contribute some content, I'm open to that, too ;)

Text colors are impossible to read, yet ANOTHER anime site, way, way, way too many forums.

Right... I'll think about smalling them down.

It's a good start, though.

filburt1 05-04-2003 11:24 PM

Any contrasting scheme. Black on dark blue is not that.

It is your fault. Instead of starting an anime site, start a site that doesn't have any forums of competition.

... but... I want an anime site... i guess it is my fault... and.. well, ... the colors... I fiddled with them... but nothing seemed to look good... what should go on the darkish blue?... :ermm: :( :disappointed:

GaleForce 05-05-2003 12:21 AM

No offense Fillburt, gengar, don't listen to him. If you want to make an Anime site because your passion is Anime, go ahead an do it. Don't let others put you down because there are already quite a few Anime sites, your site can be just as good as anyone elses as long as you work hard. Aside from that, I do agree the colors need a bit of work, but the header is nice :)

filburt1 05-05-2003 12:40 AM

I understand what you're saying...but all I'm saying is that you can't expect your site to become popular when it already has many extremely large competitors.

GaleForce 05-05-2003 01:07 AM

Perhaps, but thats not to say that he will not get an active member base. My idea of a good community is one with awesome users. Quality over quantity. I would rather have a forum of 100 members who are active and fun to chat with than 1000, some of whom are inactive and some are just plain annoying and stupid.

gengar003 05-05-2003 01:13 AM

So.. Does anywone have a suggestion for a text color on the darkish blue? I can't seem to find something other than black.

BTW, Galeforce, I saw your site, and it looks neat ;)

filburt1 05-05-2003 01:19 AM

Just use white, although you should probably use a dark-on-light color scheme instead.

GaleForce 05-05-2003 01:35 AM

Or you could lighten the blue and then use black, thats what I would have done. Either that or changing the blue part where the forum descriptions are to a light grey, like #CCCCCC since blue/grey go good together IMO and there is a lot of blue already there. Also, try the color #006699, its one of my favorites to use and I think it looks real nice. Thanks for the comment btw :)

-Interesting header design, but the navbar font is bound to cause problems with huge resolutions.
-Main page columns are a bit crowded. You have plenty to room to stretch them out more.
-Hard to read font on that blue.
-All one color, I suggest using alternative table colors.
-The hr (Or whatever it is) color looks bad in the Welcome Panel.
-The post font size is somewhat larger then usual.

gengar003 05-05-2003 11:22 AM

And thank you guys for the suggestions, I'll be sure to try them out.

Tony G 05-05-2003 11:24 AM

I doubt you were pointing out to me? Didn't suggest much. ;)

gengar003 05-05-2003 10:30 PM

Okay, Here's a dark-on-light version:

http://pgsforum.com

Happy?

;)

filburt1 05-05-2003 10:51 PM

It's not really any different...

gengar003 05-05-2003 11:32 PM

It's lighter.

filburt1 05-05-2003 11:41 PM

The background is but the actual area where most of the text is still the same, at least to me.

gengar003 05-05-2003 11:58 PM

No, it's very noticably lighter, compared to the older one.
