You know you have patient users when you seldom even bother to use your test vb and just make your users guinea pigs instead :D

I do that all the time. Mainly because all I have is a test vB. I have no actual forum :cool:

i don't even have a test vb, lmao.

You know you spend too much time on your test vB when the first thing you do to copy files to it is you load up your FTP client, then realize... hang on, this thing's on my computer.

I'm sure filburt already applies such precautions but a small reminder for other people:

When you install a test board which resides in the internet (ie not in your localhost), always remember to run these queries in your test board's database:

[sql]DELETE FROM subscribethread[/sql]
(This will remove thread subscriptions so if you accidently reply a thread, your test board will not be revealed to subscribers.)

[sql]UPDATE user SET password=MD5('youradminpasswordgoeshere')[/sql]
(This will set all users passwords to your admin password so even if test board is revealed they wont be able to login and will also help you to login as them if you need to test such things)

[sql]UPDATE user SET email="youradminemailgoeshere"[/sql]
(This will set all users emails to your email so even if they run into test board, they cant reset their password to receive a new one and log in. It will also help you test any kind of emailling issues as all emails are now directed to your account)

Needless to say, never ever run such queries in the real board, they are just for the test board! :lick:

I just don't have PHP set up to work with mail() ;)

I just put

disable_functions = mail

in php.ini. :p

... you have more boards than members. Which, in my case, is true - I've got more testvBs than actual members :p (well, I don't have a public board up yet, so I guess that's why :lick:) But, I've got quite a number of testvBs running at the moment, mainly to make sure that some things don't clash after I have heavily modified the files.

I don't have a test board either....

My members are great guinea pigs, They celebrate when they find a bug :)

but...
