[ANSWERED] Unregistered guests can view the Full releases forum...
 

I was under the impression that hacks will be available to licensed and registered users. But I discovered this by accident a few days ago when I cleared all my cookies that I was able to visit and download stuff feom Full Releases... :confused:

I just tried this, (by logging out) and I didnt get logged out!!
All forums where marked read and I was still logged in, strange

I can view the forum and its threads as a guest but can't download attachments.

Im pretty sure before you couldnt view them before :confused:

It would be fine if they could, it's just that they can't download attachments. If everybody actually posted hacks as attachments as they're required to do it wouldn't be a problem.

thats rather idiotic, allowing guests to view hacks, even if they can't download.

Why?

Potential vB customers can see what's available. As long as they cannot download the hack, what's the harm?

If you have no vb license, you should have no right to view the hacks forums.

But the idea of this place is to give potential vbulletin customers an opportunity to see what is available to them after their purchase. They can see what the hack does and what hacks are available and this is a good way of enticing new customers as they can see - but not access - what is available to them after purchase :)

Guest can read the descriptions of the hacks.

they cannot:
- download hacks
- view screenshots (as they're attached)
- view code in [php ] tags (or code or sql tags)

i think it's the best compromis between letting potential customers know whats available and prevent geting code for unlicensed :)

Even better would be to let guests view the thread titles, but not the actual posts. ;)

yeah I agree... guests should be able to see the hack threads... this is one of the reasons I bought vb a year ago.. I saw all the cool hacks

if they cant see the php code tags then i dont see any harm of viewing the threads :)
