[Request] : Search Log hack !

Hello,

Is there any hack which recods and displays as a search log in the AdminCP ??

This should redord :

1. The phrases searched
2. who searched
3. Number of thread results displayed by the search
4. Option for the admin within adminCP to delete logs
5. Download the search logs as tar/zip file.

Thanks if anyone can do this ?!

Cheers

Logician :

Thanks for the link,I have seen that hack, but what i want is in the admin CP not open to public, its just for my analysis as admin or owner of some community.

This can help me improving my boards.

I feel the same hack can be updated , added more features to achieve whats mentioned in my first post.

Just just 10 posts, i want all the searches to be logged....and then...there should be an option to delete the logs once the analysis is performed.

anyone interested to work on it ??

Thanks for your valuable time.

Cheers

FYI: Altough it's not Admin CP integrated, it can be displayed by Admins only!

Also it displays all existing keywords (upto 1000) in your search table so if you get few results, this is because that is all kept in your table..

Enjoy

I tried this on 3.0.3 and got a database/table error. What needs to be changed on this mod to make it compatible with the latest database structure?

The error I get is:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT query("SELECT search.searchid,search.orderedids,search.dateline, search.query,search.userid,use r.username,user.userid,user.usergroupid FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "search," s LEFT JOIN user u ON u.userid=s.userid WHERE querystring!="" ORDER BY searchid desc LIMIT 1000
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '("SELECT search.searchid,search.orderedids,search.dateline, sear

Yes - I search for a function that can log search keywords that users search for.
I installed this Addon: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=298033
But does not work for me at the moment... in the 4.2.x Version. So I am searching for something similar to this :)

I would suggest posting in the thread for that product, and tell the developers exactly what is not working, with screenshots, errors received, etc., and give them a chance to advise you. :)

Thank you MarkFL, yes I already made a posting there :)

In vb2 and vb3, database was keeping searched words in a simple structure where you could easily read with a single query. Hence the hacks above were easy to come up with.

In vb4, searching got complicated because it started to entail all sorts of contents like blogs or cms. So its not possible to read search results with a single query anymore, after you read from database you need to analyze it inside your code before displaying it to the user.

So unfortunately its not easily possible to port the hacks above to vb4. A search log hack for vb4 needs to be more complicated than these.
