Convert my exsisting board?
HiFolks,
I have this msg board using a free service so it has pops ups and I cant add hacks and stuff to it. Basically it looks a bit crappy. I now have like over 250 members with awuite a few regular posters, so i thought Id maybebuy a VB board for them to use. I want to know if I can convert all the old posts etc into the new VB board? Link to exsisting board thanks for the hellp. greets Entity |
what type of board is it? I see hyperboard but never heard of it.
Most likely you'll be able to. Take alook here- http://www.vbulletin.org/hacks/index...howcat&catid=8 |

thanks for that :)
I see it works for EZ boards, but i dont think hyperboards is exactly the same as them ? |
The devs over at vbulletin.com are looking for more boards to make converters for so that more people can convert their forums to vbulletin with no hastle.
I would wait to see if they clarify that hyperboards will convert to vbulletin using the EZ boards converter. If not, they should begin coding a converter for hyperboards also :). Dave. |
Either way there will be no more official converters until 3.0.0, and they'll instead first update all the existing converters to work.
|
There is no actual "converter" for ezboard - the vB Team actually manually imports the THREADS and FORUMS from ezboard for you - you can't do it yourself. They CANNOT import MEMBERS for you. It takes them around 2 days to do it.
|
sorry if this sounds a bit thick, but if they import the threads but not members then are all posts just logged as "guest" ?
I asked about a convertor on vb.com forums and they told me to ask here :) |
|
Yes, all the members are "guests", but there is a hack released that automatically link ezboard members to their posts when they register with the same username. Look for it.
|
sounds good, altho no point me looking for it if It only supports EX boards and not hyperboards :(
