Why don't you consider this an 'actual site'?

filburt1 03-02-2003 01:21 PM

Because it's practically an official Jelsoft site. Hell, Chen didn't even have to pay for his license.

Dean C 03-02-2003 01:57 PM

Vbulletintemplates.com won it last time and i never saw you complaining then burt...

filburt1 03-02-2003 03:03 PM

It wasn't and still isn't official. It only recently got a license system working completely for that matter, and I wasn't really an active member until this Winter.

I'm not trashing vB.org but I don't think it was fair to the other sites that were trying to win.

Dean C 03-02-2003 03:37 PM

Well put it this way. It can't be nominate again for a year. And it IS an official jelsoft site. It's on jelsoft's server.

filburt1 03-02-2003 03:47 PM

I've asked before and technically it isn't official, just damned near close.

Dean C 03-02-2003 04:21 PM

Who have you asked?

EchoHype.com 03-02-2003 05:00 PM

either way, the new polls are up :)

Erwin 03-02-2003 06:25 PM

vBulletin.org is also "unofficial" - it is owned by Chen, not Jelsoft, and is run separately, though it is on the same server.

Xenon 03-02-2003 08:04 PM

Exactly, and AFAIK it was nominated more times and has just won now...
so i think it was fair.

also if this would be an officail jelsoft site we would be offical jelsoft employees, and so on ;)

filburt1 03-02-2003 11:33 PM

It was nominated many times before, it just never made it into the random five that make it to the finals, if you will.

Admin 03-03-2003 09:56 AM

vBulletin.org is just as official as vBulletinTemplates.com, both are hosted on Jelsoft's server and both have a licensing system. Both are "actual forums" ran by "actual people", both deserve a chance to win the award and both did. And with the upcoming changes to vBulletin.org, it will become an even less official site.

We have a great staff here who are doing their job every day, and they do a pretty good job. It wouldn't be fair if their work couldn't be recognized just because this site is called vBulletin.org. This site has grown from a 3,000 threads sub-forum to a fully featured website with almost 200,000 posts and more than 1,500 hacks, thanks to these people. Those that browse the site every day know this and I'm glad they appreciate it.

(And for your information, I did pay for this license. I've had it for a long time and used it on a personal site, and when vBHacks.com was created I transferred the license over there. Then we took over the vBulletin.org domain name, but the license is still mine and it's not being use anywhere else. If you will.)

Is this anything to worry about? :paranoid:

And congratulations, Chen. It's about time you won. ;)

do not overinterprete anything.
I'm sure there is no need to worry about anything.

Boofo 03-03-2003 10:59 AM

I wasn't over-interpreting anything. That was a joke. Humor, remember that? ;)

Xenon 03-03-2003 11:17 AM

Humor? whats that? ;)

Boofo 03-03-2003 11:21 AM

It's an American thing. Most countries don't have it. In fact, America has very little of it left. I might be one of the few (if not the only one) holding on to any of it.

Xenon 03-03-2003 11:24 AM

*gets a dictionary*
hmm, the british have also some kind of humor i've heard ^^

what about my country:
germany: known as not having humor left, except of some sort of really black humor.

ahh, now i know what it is ;)

That's just a rumor. It has never been proven to exist there. Read some of the posts here. ;)

Thanks for clarifiying that Chen and I congratulate you once again. Just wear that badge with pride. (in the header or footer ;))

Tis true but so many people in this country are basically on their high-horses with such censorship on certain types of humour. I'm not going to divulge into examples but certain Brits will remember a show on channel4 which has a reputation for controversial humour and broadcast a show which had no viscious intent or no political statement to be made but it still was thought of as unhumorous. I must agree with you there Boofo. Many people in Britain lead people in other countries to believe we are all well-spoken, posh people with no sense of humour. Its not true in all cases but i'd say its 50/50...

Xenon 03-03-2003 03:53 PM

And that is humor ^^

Have i already sent the congratz to us? ^^

Dean C 03-03-2003 05:54 PM

There you go... the boss has spoken... :)

Boofo 03-03-2003 07:07 PM

'Nuff said. ;)

filburt1 03-07-2003 10:09 PM

Just remember I didn't mean any offense, only meant it didn't give smaller sites a chance :)

Erwin 03-08-2003 03:03 AM

Your avatar is offense enough. ;) :p

Dean C 03-08-2003 10:50 AM

I do understand your point but put it this way - we can't win for another year ;)
