content management recommendations

Hi. I need a content management system for a large website.

Here is the kicker.
I need one that outputs the pages in html.
I think this is the way to go for bigger sites.
Something that when I modify a link in my menu it does it site wide.
One last thing. I don't won't one that requires a user to log in.
No need to integrate with vbulletin.

It doesn't have to be free because I realize the amount of time programmers spend on this stuff and hey they've got to eat too. :)

So..........
Any of you know of a good program that can do this?
Or if you are looking maybe we can work together on this and try to find something decent.
Thanks.

Dave.

There is a hack here that allows you to use java, html and other types ...

Check it out:

dave123, to download hacks and get support you will need to go to this page and enter your email address, to show you are licensed. (you will need to use your customer number and password to access that page)
Thank you.

PostNuke is great and has plenty of features

Hi.

So far none of these fits the requirements.

I need one that:
1. A user doesn't have to log in.
2. A php script.

Say for example I have 5 sections on my site.

Right now I'm able to place a tag on each indivdual page that calls up my banner program. It is a nightmare having to change something on each indivdual page. Also it takes for ever if I need to update my links on the left side of the page.

Say one section is call motorsports.

Okay. With the CMS program I would like to put a tag on top of the template to target that section. 5 individual tags for the different sections. motorsports, flying, scuba diving etc.....

With postnuke it looks like I would have to integrate it with vbulletin. I am stuck at 2.2.8 because I have some major modifications to the script. So I need a CMS that is indepensent of the vbulletin script. Nothing that fancy. Just something that will save me some work whenever I need to make a modification to a link.
What do you think?

Thanks.

As you obviously already use a vb, go to the page i told you to show that you are a licenced user or you won't get any support here!

Also please enter a valid url into your profile!

Right erwin, really nice :)

Thx for showing up as licenced now :)

Um, you can configure PostNuke so users don't have to login.

FTDave 02-17-2003 09:50 PM

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Is post nuke server intensive? I have the latest dedicated server but vbull seems to use a lot of server resources. Its still fast I just want to be careful.

Dean C 02-18-2003 09:09 AM

It's quite server intensive. But it allows for modules. There's no intigration with vbulletin apart from a few hacks around here which intigrate the user system. I'd use vbhome_lite and sacrifice the modules :)

If you have a dedicated server your fine. And no it's not that server intensive. I am working on a very good integration of the two.

Dean C 02-18-2003 04:09 PM

It is server intensive. It uses a ridiculous amount of queries.

dave, you're showing up as unlicensed again. Just so you know.

FTDave 02-20-2003 02:50 AM

What is the deal with you guys?

I am licensed. I've owned a licensed version for a long.............................................. ........... time.

You guys even said so. So whats up?

Steve Machol 02-20-2003 03:48 AM

FTDave is licensed but dave123 is not. I think this was explained earlier.

Erwin 02-20-2003 07:49 AM

Oops. My bad. :) Sorry. It's just that you started this thread as dave123 and it lights up like a Christmas tree for us mods. :)

So far I haven't seen any suggestions for a CMS that can output pages as static html pages.

bharvey42 07-17-2003 03:35 PM

PostNuke can do that with the Short URL modification

I need HTML.
I need HTML.
I need HTML.
I need HTML.

Consider WHY you must have HTML pages, instead of dogmatically saying you want them.

Consider some of the PHP caching systems out there.

It's like a guy who goes into a hardware store saying he needs THIS part and THIS tool over and over even when he tells the store employee that he wants to do something that would work so much better with a different part and a different tool.
