Geez
I just upgraded from 2.2.8 to 2.3.0(RC). This has been the hardest upgrade so far. I couldn't believe it but showgroups.php file has been changed the most. 42 TIMES!
And i'm gettin problems with showgroups.php but that's all so far. We'll see how it goes... - miSt |
Here we go again...
I'll wait a bit till it's out of RC... hopefully soon... EDIT: I notice that the vB Dev Team have run this version for a few days already with no problems... so it's probably safe to use... :) Will upgrade this weekend. |
I probably won't upgrade until VB3, but I've said that for like 3-4 months and have kept upgrading :P
|
glad that i haven't hacked showgroups.php :)
but i'll wait also a bit, but it seems the showgroups changes were very good... |
Anyone have a link to a forum's showgroups who is running 2.3? I want to see the changes ;).
|
think you won't "see" the changes.
there wer structural changes to use other templates.. |
I really wish that Jelsoft would publish diffs or something of template changes...considering how heavily template mod'ed my board is it's not an option to keep reverting them.
|
beyond compare the vbulletin.style files :) ;)
|
Yes, because they're so easy to read with all those triple-pipes everywhere and whatnot :p
|
:p
at least it would show the differences between the files ^^ it shouldn't be easy to read, where would be the fun then? ;) |
Beyond Compare is the best, for these type of jobs. :)
As for the files, I don't think any are moded except for one so upgrading those is quite easy. I'm afraid of RC now so I'll wait for Stable. :D |
I've hacked my showgroups to bits, so I'll probably not change that file nor the relevant templates. :)
|
I don't use showgroups and the mail functioning is working fine. So I guess I'll only update the bug regarding people making themselves registered...
|
Hehe araxis is definately the best. It cleans up against beyond compare. But i found some more problems today. This is all probably related to the fact i'm running a averagely hacked board :)

Can a person manually upgrade from 2.2.8 to 2.3.0 without having to go up to 2.2.9 in the middle?
|
Yes as long as you run upgrade22.php and upgrade23.php (in that order).

It never freaking fails. I just got around to going from 2.2.6 to 2.2.9 and what do they do a week later? ARGH!
|
Yes but your site is massive amy... I'm sure you don't have "too" many major modifcations ;)
- miSt |
Thankfully Steve says that this update doesn't include security fixes, just bug fixes and the addition of vbmail(), so it's not a critical ugprade.
|
Well so far there's been 3 major bugs reported...
|
@rose: yes, it's nearly the same procedure when upgrading from 229 to 230
just use other files to compare ;) |
does anyone know where I can get the zip of 2.2.8? I've lost my original zip, and need to compare the files b/c my board is "slightly" hacked. Thanks
|
Hmm, i think the only way is to fill a support ticket in the members area and ask for the files..
|
thanks,
|
I upgraded in 30 seconds, I only have one hack installed .. microstats, LoL ;)
I am keeping my board clean of hacks until vb3. .. and i can't even reinstall micostats because functions.php changed and I can't figure out a work-around :P |
