BBAdmins v2

After weeks of ups and downs me and Ryan (Radon) have managed to get BBAdmins back up.

This site is for BBAdmins to talk about managing your forums and the problems you run into everyday with members etc.

http://www.bbadmins.com

Will lead you to a vBHome, just click the home in the Navagation to view the forum.

Enjoy!

Radon3k 02-07-2003 10:40 PM

Edit. Fixed. Sorry about that.

Tony G 02-07-2003 10:49 PM

Yes it's a bit darker then before but we can put up with it. ;)

Although we never resolved this issue i will give unbiased criticism as always ;):

- I'm not a great fan of the forum rollovers. I think it is just a distraction.
- In the header the main BBADMINS.com bit right at the top looks a bit misplaced and the sharp edges look a bit fuzzy
- Your logo is nice but quite plain
- The navbar fits the design but the stroke on the text looks quite inappropriate
- The stroke on the pixel font in the header as well as the outer glow looks silly and it makes it unreadable. That's one of the worst things a designer can do - add a one pixel border to a pixel font
- On the category headings on the left and right there is a 3-4 pixel line exteding upwards if you look closely
- http://www.bbadmins.com/forum/images/onlock.gif - hasn't been done
- I'm not keen on the buttons as a whole. The kinda button bit which is embossed onto the buttons themselves looks nice but the pixel font with the black stroke around it looks innapropriate and so does the light green stripe.

In general i'm not too keen on the colors. They are kinda depressing and monotonous

Regards :)

Thanks Mist, I agree with the font being too hard to see without a bigger border.

I think the line is done on purpose on the category headers, part of the design possibly.

Yes the lock has been done but not showing on unregistered screens for some reason.

Also I didn't think the logo was intentionally supposed to be detailed extremely. Sometimes plain is nice.

Thanks, though. I'll take some of those into consideration. :)

i made the design...so ill respond to some of mists comments.

the line on the cat images is not my fault. I originally had a cat image with a gradient, and a 1px border. the other admin mustve removed the border, not realizing there were a few pixels left.

the logo - plain. I wasnt told to do something fancy, and he didnt like the other one i made (radon3k), so i made it just a circle.

colors - i was told to stick with the colors from the old logl.....so i did (not my choice).

buttons - i personally like em. they were originally made for another site in a blue, and it looked a litle better. i just changed the color.

header stroke - i need to find a way to make it look better....i jut never got around to it!

that help at all???:):)

Tony G 02-10-2003 04:59 AM

Well Cypher you can still make it look better. ;)
But if you would like it to remain that way it's okay.
I still gotta get through coding the layout for the postbit. Wasn't too hard doing a layout for the other things and implimenting some of the images.

Thanks for your insight, mist, cypher. :D

Dean C 02-10-2003 03:55 PM

No problem Tony

Cypher - i know radon wanted plain, its just that i don't like plain in this design ;)

Dean C 02-11-2003 03:31 PM

Hehe but the colors are already plain tony... why make it a plain design too ;)?

Tony G 02-12-2003 08:59 AM

Thanks Kars! :)

Mist - Gaaar! :p

Dean C 02-12-2003 03:39 PM

Tony - i speak my mind ;)

Tony G 02-13-2003 10:08 AM

And I get angry alot. Hehehe. :D

Cypher720 02-14-2003 03:56 PM

mist - yeah...i hate plain - but i do what im told when i get paid:)

Dean C 02-14-2003 04:09 PM

Indeed. I would have only paid 20 bucks max for that thought if i'm being completely honest.
