Effect Pages

Hi,
This is simple and easy hack it add new effect when you view pages forum like(Zoom,blend,reveal,....etc)

for using this hack just you need to open header and add this after last line in <meta
add this:
PHP Code:

<meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="revealTrans(Duration=1.0,Transition=23)"

Good luck

assassingod 02-01-2003 11:05 AM

This isnt a hack since it doesnt involve editing any .php files.
This is a template modification

Dean C 02-01-2003 12:59 PM

Indeed this is a template mod buddy :)

Thanks for releasing though

It sounds cool Do you we have a demo ?

Thanks
Matthew

Another incognizant user releases a template addition in the forum that clearly states when creating a hack not to do so. You don't even explain how it works, or if it does. Tsk tsk.

xxxsaint 02-01-2003 03:49 PM

and another smart remark needlessly posted by a fellow forum member instead of letting the forums staff do their jobs , possibly turning a future vbhacker's opinion into one that the folks here at vbulletin.org are arrogant and snobish.

NuclioN 02-01-2003 04:12 PM

It's working alright but it slows down the forum a lot so it's not an option for our forum

Sinister112 02-01-2003 04:42 PM

k i added this
heres a demo then :P

Sinister112 02-01-2003 04:43 PM

Yeah, right. Am I in anyway preventing the forum staff from completing their job? Obviously not, your statement doesn't even make sense to what I said. I'm just emphasizing that people should pay closer attention to the rules, which are clearly described when you try to create a new hack. Nobody said members of the forum can't also help enforce the rules.

Quote:

Before you publish a new hack in this forum, you must make sure that it complies with the following guidelines and agree to the following rules:

1. Before releasing a hack, search the forum to make sure thesame idea was not released already. If you are releasing a hack that is a variation of an existing hack, don't forget to give credit where credit is due.

2. You must test your hack first. If the hack was never tested and or you would like others to help you test it first, post it in the Beta Hacks forum.

3. Hacks are PHP code changes, nothing more and nothing less. As a rule, remember that if your 'hack' can be done solely from the Admin control panel, then it does not qualify as a hack. Furthermore, hacks are not template changes. If you have a cool idea that is based solely on editing templates - post in the Templates Forum.

4. Make sure to specify which vBulletin version(s) this hack is written for.

5. You must offer a way to contact you if the installers have questions or problems. If you don't want to provide support for your hack - then you must state in the first post that your hack comes with no support.

6. Only licensed vBulletin users may release and/or download hacks. vBulletin Lite hacks cannot be distributed.

7. Complete script files from vBulletin must not be posted. You may only post instructions for the users to change the file themselves.

it is pretty snobbish. I already think this lot is pretty arrogant. I keep coming here cause I can benefit from hacks. But I'll never consider really integrating into this community.

lordofgun 02-02-2003 04:06 AM

yeah give the guy a break! i hate how people get jumped on here.

Velocd 02-02-2003 04:12 AM

People don't often get jumped on here, and you shouldn't be jumping to such harsh conclusions so quickly. I'm not giving anybody a hard time, and my tone of voice is somewhat sarcastic at times, but I'm usually only kidding so don't take it so offensively ;)

Now, let's try to shift back on topic.

Dean C 02-02-2003 10:28 AM

I think the posts in this thread should be deleted before the thread is moved :p

It's true.. on my forum we try to be as friendly as possible to people and give them chances before we jump down their neck.

BTW: I mean this in general on these forums, not just this one incident so please don't get defensive because were ganging up against you here Velocd. Just making a statement about the board as a whole. And it looks like I'm not the only one who feels this way

mx3 02-03-2003 01:07 AM

hey i installed it but then uninstalled it because users thought it was annoying. actually, it is annoying. nice hack, but kinda gets on your nerves

forumsinfo 02-03-2003 06:14 AM

And anyway - it's absolut rubbish - for girls only.

zajako 02-03-2003 06:41 AM

i don't think this works for mozilla users, cause the demo site did nothing diff for me.

?nima 02-06-2003 01:32 AM

You need to click on one of the forums too see the effect. Good job man, even if it's only a template edit, it's nice.

*considers installing*

Erwin 02-06-2003 01:58 AM

As this is not a hack, I'm moving this to the Templates forum... in future, instead of complaining in the thread, click on the Report link, or PM a moderator. :) Peace.

Erwin 02-06-2003 02:04 AM

FWIW, this template mod is simple, but cool.

I added mine to the headinclude - basically this make going from one page to another page in your site different - one moment, it's blending into the next one, the next moment, it's curtain dropping, or opening like a door - I suspect you need IE 5.5 for this to work, but it works.

Thanks. :)

Erwin 02-06-2003 02:24 AM

Wow, some of my members love page transitions, and some hate them with a passion! I only had them up for 5 minutes, and already we have opposite groups debating its present! LOL!

Dean C 02-06-2003 03:46 PM

Indeed but it only happens for IE users so parts of your users won't get to use it :)

AnaFreak 02-15-2003 05:01 PM

i like the hack...but it does slow the forums down

AnaFreak 02-15-2003 05:01 PM

i like the hack...but it does slow the forums down

AnaFreak 02-17-2003 03:40 AM

also.......I want to remove it........I went to remove it in header and did.......but the damn thing still works......any reason why it would still work?????????

Erwin 02-17-2003 06:36 AM

Did you put it in your headinclude? Did you try to refresh your screen. Also try not to double-post like that. :)

Kars10 02-17-2003 06:52 AM

After 1 Day on my Board i hated this !! ;)

msimplay 02-24-2003 02:18 AM

Well... my demo isn't up anymore because of a DOS attack on my host, also, I'm not ever putting that up again. Too many complaints.

Thanx Mirri!
It looks great, and my Users like it!!

leviw 05-30-2003 09:02 PM

This would be neater if it was able to be turned on/off by users in their user cp.

That way, people who hate it dont need to see it, while people who like it can. Also, if you get sick of it, you can turn it off until later.

Just my two cents. Thanks for the template mod, good idea!

Infopro 06-12-2003 01:20 PM

Any user can turn it off very easy with Internet Explorer. Go to internet options > Advanced > uncheck enable page transitions. ;)
