Invision Power Board 1.1 Importer needs testing

I have heard all the requests for an Invision Power Board 1.1/1.2 import script and now it is done (I hope).
It is possible that it could work with all vB 2.2.x versions but I have tested it only with vB 2.2.9+. I don't know how much bbimport.php changed over the versions and if it will work with older ones.

It imports users, custom avatars, usergroups, buddys, categories, forums, threads, posts, attachments, polls, private messages, private message folders, subscribed forums and subscribed threads.

To make it easy to use it is written as a plugin like all the other official importers.


Requirements: vBulletin and IPB 1.1/1.2 on the same MySQL server. It doesn't matter if they are in the same or in different databases (but different databases need the same MySQL user/pass).

Is it a 1.1 database?

I am sure that the import script is not compatible with IPB 1.0.1 because of all the changes between 1.0.1 and 1.1.

its 1.1 rc 1 :D and it was converted from 1.0.1 after they released 1.1 :D

Hmm I would say about 10 hours of work. Don't know exactly.

Good thing was that the import script for WWWThreads has been a nice inspiration.

1 tester replied and had no problems. More to come.

i had alot of probs with it :(

1) it added some users has admin, supermods and so on.
2) added some users to more then one group.
3) added people to your contacts list that where not on it.
4) imports all smilies and tags has html

:( oh well i just dont a clean install of vb now and people have had to resign up because i could not get this to work.

Anyways, I really need this! And yes, it is a 1.1 database.

1) Hard to say where the problem is, in my 2 test boards all users and usergroups were imported correctly.

2) This isn't possible in vB2 because one user can only belong to one usergroup. Perhaps two users have the same name?

3) Yup. I am working on this right now....DONE!

4) This is already done.

I need this importer for invision 1.1 to vbulletin, where do I get it?

I guess both of these errors are related to users that are in mgroup=0 (mgroup = usergroup) or any other undefined usergroup (don't know yet how this can happen).

I will add some checks to avoid this.

Yes, this is solved.
There is only one other thing with importing the rights of the standard usergroups which I want to do before sending out the next batch of scripts. Hopefully in a couple of days.

Can anyone post Screenshots of the Script ?

It looks like any other official import script.

Basically it just says:
"Next thing to import is the users"
Start import <- Button

"Next thing to import is the usergroups"
Start import <- Button

And so on. :)

Just launch one of the import scripts and you will see it.

Where can we get this script ? I'd love to give it a try.

How can I download this hack? I cant sem to download it and yes I am a valid VBulletin Member.

I got the script from pogo, I ended up hunting him down on the vBulletin-Germany forums though.

It's definately a rough script. but it worked and I got all the posts and users converted.

Those of you who do get the script should watch out for:

• usergroups are converted, but instead of putting admin, moderator, super moderator, registered, etc in the existing vBulletin usergroups the script seems to make all new usergroups with similar names, and then imports all the users adding them to these new usergroups. It's not a big deal really, if you are versed in MySQL you can fix this with a few commands.
• My account was imported to the forum and instead of replacing userid 1 it was given userid 2, which makes me the second user in the database and as such some admin functions in vB are visible to userid 1. Again, this was easily fixed with some MySQL commands meant to search and replace userids.
• Forum options and permissions are not converted, or are converted poorly.

There were some other issues but they were minor, and all in all I am extremely grateful for the converter pogo wrote. CandidForums are now back on Vbulletin, where they belong. :p
