Why not make a custum pet name, so usual like dog could be used but also own made animals :D That would be fun :D

I dont understand what you mean, you mean make up some animals? Or allow them to enter their own breed, instead of a dropdown?

Mist - I was actually considering doing something very similar - where you could select a head, body, and legs for your pet. But I doubt I wil be adding this until version 3 or 4.

Version 2 is coming along nicely, It uses knoman's level hack, and it will be compatible if you already have the hack for your members, as it adds new stats for your pets :)

The images are being implemented now, there will be a different image for each pet and gender.

And then I have no idea what to add next :) Any suggestions?

Hehe, funny hack. Maybe you could make some kind of tamagochi system. So you have to feed your pet and make it sleep and stuff like that. And if you don't, your pet dies (that'll make people visit your board often). :)

Thats a very good idea, but also very hard to implement, I will try my best! After v2 is finished that will be my target I think!

In basic it is a funny way to bring people back to your forum to feed the pet/tamagochi. The HP/EXP indicators however are imho irrelevant because the pet does not fight. You could also add a grafical display with the milkproduction from cows during the autumn, it would be a similar type of information. The stamina/endurance is more involved in the relation pet versus condition. So it needs only one indicator, that would be fine and it saves space in your postbit.

To get the most out of this, it would be great to bring in other hacks and functions or parts of them. Think about the gill-points hack...change that name and output in tiberium or hamburgers, or just food.
There is a 'blur avatar' hack around so maybe you can blur the pet when it is almost dead. The Store hack from Lesane could be involved to let members buy things for their pet.
Crucial i guess is the timespan between a full health pet and a dead one. The indicator should shrink in a timeperiod for about two days or so. After that it gets ill and turns into a blur for another period of time and eventually dies by lack of support. It's just an idea, other events may occur if their is to little attention for this.

The pet will not do or in the most cases futile for adults, so consider an adro?d or a babe or maybe an alien for this group. Feed your babe with candy or chocolate to undress her or give your alien tiberium to prevent an invasion. (fake virus hack could do funny things for example)

I'm not that good with php to make a two days indicator that can be set to full power again when you feed this pet, so all i can do is contribute some idea's. It has a lot of potential and with some creativity it could turn into a hit. ;)

Make your pet grow after it gets to a new level or "evolve" as you will. Make it some what like a pokemon thing where you get ONE pet and can battle them against another animal and can train it to gain levels. That would be SO great.

I can dothe first part quite easily, just have different images for each level, however the second part is very difficult.

Another thing to integrate? The battle hack by Bitsys perhaps?

The battling wont come for quite a while, once this version is done I will work on letting pets level up and possibly have additional statistics, like Speed, Stamina etc - and I'll probably have this displayed on another page as apposed to in the postbit.

I need to look in detail at the battle hack to figure out how it works, but anythings possible.

Just a question - If you do decide to do the "pet dies" option, can there be an option to make the pet of certain user's "immortal"? Unfortunately I am not online much during the week, so I wouldn't be able to maintain my pet:(

When I get to that stage, I intend to integrate with Lesanes Store hack to enable people to purchase ethers, phoenix downs etc to use on their pets.

Version 2 should be here by the end of the day, the coding is complete, just waiting for the images now :)
