this is driving me up a wall!
 

i am not sure why, but my forum home page loads a lot slower then the rest of the board? if you look at diffrent threads and look through the differnt sections of the portal the board is fast, but when you click to to look at forum home it takes a while? my forum home doesnt even have all that many images.

anyone have any ideas on how i could speed this up?

There's a template/hack mod that you can use so that you can set debug mode on or off in your vBulletin Options. IMO it's a lot easier :)

thanks for the link, but i figured i would install teck`s hack that gives all the microstats, and here is what i got....

You might want to start by adding Xenons forumhome optimization.

Strange, you've still got a high query count. I reduced mine down to 18 with Xenon's hack.

What hacks do you have for the forumhome?

vBPortal? Thats the one with all those big features which take up many queries right? Use something like vBHome. Only 9 queries.

If you have no hacks on forumhome and use Xenon's hack, you will reduce it down to 10 or 9 or something :)

No it won't it reduces from 19 to 14 on a fresh install :)

Well actually it jumps, because I had mine down to 14 then I refreshed and I had it at 18. So I dunno what happened there :p

right now on forum home the only hack i have is member of the day by firefly. thats it. it dropped down to 17-20 queries now on forum home. but i never did have any hacks until recently and it was always slow on forum home?

i do have vportal and they do have a lot of queries. but i guess thats the price you pay. i like all of the features of vportal. the content pages and ect. lots of good stuff there. ;)

i am being told, its not the amount of queries, its how they are used. so i shgouldnt be worried right? i just dont want to bring my host to its needs once the board gets busy and they get shut down.

Use vbhome (lite) a lot of the same functions as vbportal and far fewer queries.
