Can't view thread?
 

I have something really, really weird going on here.

I am trying to view/respond to one of my hack threads, and for the life of me, I can't view the most recent page (page 52). It crashes Internet Explorer AND Netscape when I try to go to it.

Can anybody else view it? Is it just me?

I tried it on three of my computers here, including one that I had just finished installing a fresh copy of Windows XP on.

It didn't crash my browser but the page load got stuck after DarkDraco07's this post:

Yea, in my test with Netscape it did display up to that one, then the browser went to 99% of system resources.

I finally have progress to report on my hack, too. And now I can't see the thread. Dangit! :)

it's because in post 770 the guy typed in

ghghghghgh <--- about 30,000 times , literally.

Can a moderator or administrator remove the offending post?

Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So far there are two holes in vb... well really one, i guess you can set the limit of characters per post to something like 15,000 .. that SHOULD be more than enough for someone to submit a hack..

the other hole is smilies.. if someone inserts 10,000 smilies into a post it will pretty much take down the server.

sucks to have these kinds of jerks, especially at this site where 99% of us are forum admins and should know better than to do something like this.

Yea, I've been trying to look at that post for the last few days now. I received email notification for the thread and DarkDraco07 did literally post "ghghgh" a few thousand times or so. Hopefully a moderator will be able to delete the post soon.

2.2.9 seems to have fixed that problem. There's also a fix posted in the General Hacking Discussion forum.

I suppose I could also just start a new thead for Beta 2 of the hack, since it is a significant change. About 3 times the amount of code and all sorts of new stuff.

Still, it would be nice to have the original thread back, though.

You should start the new thread in the "Full Releases" forum :p

Nah, no full release just yet. The more I work on the hack, the more stuff I want to add to it. I finally had to force myself to stop adding features so I could get the next Beta out. :)

I'm curious now. How do you go about deleting a post that you can't get to like this one was?

the postid was reachable, and then a little html-form which calls editpost.php with the delete parameters could delete the post without loading it :)

Anyway to get a copy of that in case I ever run into something like that? Might be good to have, in case. :)

have deleted it afterwards, it was so easy to create ;)

just edit any post, and save the editpost form into a html-file, then just change the hidden postid fields :)

Ok, I see how to change the post ID, but then how would you run it to delete the post? Wouldn't it be easier to go into the db or Admin CP and do it?

i'm not an admin here just a poor mod, so i have to invent another method ;)

Yeah, i think so too. Another reason would be because others like me need some help and those erroneous posts are taking up space.

Anyway back to the subject at hand, why aren't the games showing up?? I successfully installed it, and I have the latest flash player, but the games don't load. Anyone have any ideas?

why there is nothing to hide.. its easy.. as long as you have the post ID you can act as if your going to delete a post but instead change the post ID in the URL box to the one you want to delete.

i've splitted these posts of the hack thread and merged them into this thread, i think they belong in here and not filling the hack supportthread :)
