Real vB3 ACP Screenshots

For those of you that haven't seen, Keir has posted some real Admin CP shots for vB3 here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...8&postcount=45

assassingod 11-27-2002 04:39 PM

:p

That is one nice looking CP:)
New style looks lovely as well.

Cant wait...(actually, I can, I dont like vb3:p);)

NTLDR 11-27-2002 05:01 PM

You can try and convert your CP to look like vB3's ;) I'm having limited luck at finishing off the job :p

c-pr0mpt 11-27-2002 05:05 PM

I must be a minority, but I think the scheme is extremely unappealing. :ermm:

N9ne 11-27-2002 05:06 PM

WoW, that's gotta be some template editor!

Dean C 11-27-2002 05:33 PM

I agree entirely with Corey

This design is ugly

All those horrible gradients really put me off

And also this new template editort looks a bit too complicated IMO

Xenon 11-27-2002 05:41 PM

hmm, i like the new style, but just the optical thing of it.
i hope it's also as praktical as it looks good...

N9ne 11-27-2002 06:57 PM

I absolutely hate the design of it, my jaw's only dropped open because of the template editor ;)

Freddie Bingham 11-27-2002 07:10 PM

Where are you guys going to go when this site is converted to vB3?

They're not the ones who will have to use the admin cp... :rambo:

ArunanS 11-27-2002 07:45 PM

Mist, and n9ne...your members don't see the admin cp ;) just live with it.

IMO it looks really great, and the template editor would seem complicated only for people who have been using the net for awhile ;) j/k

N9ne 11-27-2002 08:18 PM

I'm not going to use vB3 until 2004 as I've just heavily modified a vB2 and I just can't upgrade now.

drews 11-27-2002 08:45 PM

I think the acp looks great. The template editor looks really feature packed. It may be confusing at first, but I am sure people will get used to it (They almost have to).

But peoples' opinions are peoples' opinions...you can't change that.

LOOL, that was a good one chen ;)

back to theme
in conclusion, we will see how fast we come into the use of the new acp, and then it'll show how good it'll be ;)
no sense to discuss that now.

and the style alone?
as i know there are many out, who doesn't like the purple look of the vb2 acp
that's why it can be modified. just change out the colors and other things....
i'm sure it wouldn't be that hard ;)

I meant that they seem to be putting all aspects of vB3 down when in reality it simply blows vB2 away. The coding is much better and it is much more optimized. There is no reason to even think about staying with vB2.

:o at the screenshots! Looks great! Can't wait to get my hands on vB3 - first thing I would do is try to port over my suspension/ banning/ warning system over (if it's not already present) and my points system. :D

I'm a sucker for the latest versions of things...

Dean C 11-28-2002 06:55 AM

@ Freddie:

Im a happy vbulletin 2.2.x user at the moment and its running quite nicely for me now :)

You can see my comments in the thread over at vbulletin.com ...

- miSt

Xenon 11-28-2002 11:19 AM

hmm, the first things i'll add is my mods can edit users and the more functions in editpost for admins with all security additions to not let mods edit my msgs and so on...

perhaps some of this is already included :)

@Arunan: you are not showed as licenced here. Can you please reenter your email and update your profile after that?

Velocd 11-28-2002 03:12 PM

The visuals of the Admin CP are the last thing I could care about (as long as it can be read), more important is the productivity and efficiency ;)

The new template system looks to fit those needs perfectly, or at least better than the current does. Cheers to the developers. :p

Sebastian 11-28-2002 05:27 PM

Freddie, as I heard our current style will not work, and if it does I heard there will be problems... you have to expect some criticism, I mean if someone like me paid a few hundred dollars for a style then it becomes useless wouldn't you be upset?

Of course this is what I have heard over at vbulletin.com so I am only assuming on what I heard.

Personally, If I have to buy another style for it to work with vb3 I will be quite upset.

NTLDR 11-28-2002 05:36 PM

The main problem I guess will be that variable names have been changed and that you won't have any new templates that are in vB3 or sections for any of the new stuff.

This is the major reason for me not using vB3, converting my style would take too long and the time involved will out weigh any advantage vB3 has over vB2 for me.

Brad 11-28-2002 05:48 PM

My main reason for not converting when its released is ive hacked v2 to my needs, when the time comes and i see something I must have for my site/forum that cannot effectatlly be hacked into v2 i will upgrade.

Xenon 11-28-2002 06:21 PM

well, i'll upgrade asap and recode my hacks then :)
i don't use a special style, just color changes... ;)

Velocd 11-28-2002 06:57 PM

I'm with Xenon, except that my forum is heavily hacked and the style is not a simple color change. But I've mentioned it before and again, vB3 will attract much more visitors to your forum. New and improved always attracts. :p

I dont care anyway, it's a challenge and I'll probably just use Araxis Merge to get it done faster. The whole forum is not improved by just features, there are also less queries, which results in faster loading times. Now I just wait patiently for it to arrive! ;)

Hey Xenon..Arunan was me...and well I was posting and looking at my hacks in the FUll Releases forum, after I signed up with that I added the email to the list..whats wrong :-/

ArunanS 11-28-2002 07:32 PM

Hey Xenon...I did it again, am I showing up as liscensed? I can access all the forums, and see al the threads..

ArunanS 11-28-2002 07:34 PM

I remember one or 2 of the vB developers saying they will have instructions for how to upgrade hacked boards...or something to that matter, don't take my word.

Xenon 11-28-2002 09:25 PM

@Arunan: I ment your DrkFusion account doesn't show up as licensed ;)
ArunanS does.

@Velo: Yes, recoding the hacks i use on vb2 will be the hardest thing for me, but the best way to learn the new structure ;)

DrkFusion 11-28-2002 10:08 PM

Hey Xenon, I had changed my email address, thats why :) I think it should work now.

Erwin 11-29-2002 02:28 AM

vB2 styles won't work for vB3. But if you have bought a style recently the creator usually would upgrade the style to vB3 for free.

Xenon 11-29-2002 11:31 AM

Arunan, thx, yes it's working now ;)

hmm, erwin, i think that's very optimistic by you ;)
someone has paid for a product on a special system, and it worked for this. If it doesn't work with another system, then i don't think they'll do the work to get it back working on vb3 for free....

perhaps, the stylesites out will do, but private people?

MaXNet 11-29-2002 11:58 AM

ok in my real opinion.. it looks like they're trying to make the whole adminCP look and feel buldgy and scary.. to be honest, it seems like we're in a control panel of an OS.

i m sure vB is not an os now is it? :|

Dark_Wizard 11-29-2002 01:08 PM

Personally I like it...looks like it has alot more features we could all use. Time will tell!

and and for some forums, that will be too much unecessary features if you know what i mean? :)

Dean C 11-29-2002 05:46 PM

Erwin i heard that a conversion script for vb2 styles to vb3 will be available :)?

yes, but it will not work very well .. from what I've heard (dev).

JamesUS 12-01-2002 10:13 AM

When you upgrade to vB 3, your old vB 2 style will be saved as a backup. However, it will not be usable on your new vB 3 forum. You will need to re-edit the new templates to restore your old style manually. There will be no automatic way to preserve your vB 2 templates when upgrading to vB 3. However, the upgrade script does try to keep your colors and fonts where possible.

Dean C 12-01-2002 12:07 PM

Damn bastards... :)

Guess its back to the drawing board with 2-3 hours of templating for me hehehe
