Help with vBulletin.org - hacks please

G'Day guys

As a new member here and to vBulletin itself I have a question about hacks and the vbulletin.org forum.

It seems there are a couple of hacks that will be critical to the operation of our new forum - particularly the ability to delete attachments for disk space reasons according to our hosting plan.

When I register for the hacks forum at vbulletin.org I can happily search for and read all about hacks - at least one of which seems perfect for my purposes (particularly a tubedog hack for admin enhancements which allows attachments to be viewed and deleted) but I cannot download any of these hacks.

Each time I get the "permission denied" screen telling me I'm not logged in or not registered.

This is not just a blind request for help - I've TRIED to solve it myself - I've followed links to some form where I'm supposed to "register myself" for privileged access - but it still won't work.

So a couple of questions.

When I fill in this registration form it seems to ask for an email address - do I put in the email address that I registered with at vbulletin.org? Or do I have to put in my vbulletin.org username too?

Does this require me to wait to be validated sometime? If so, how long?

Maybe it's because my new forum domain name has not yet fully propagated through various DNS servers?

Also, does anyone have any experience of this hack? Does it sound as if I am chasing the best solution to my prolem?

Since the initial reply by Erwin on vbulletin.com (thanks Erwin) I have moved the message here as it still doesn't seem to work.

I have added my email address to the form as suggested (it was already there anyway) but still no difference. The email address I'm using is NOT the one associated with my new domain - it is a pre-existing private address and that is the address I've added to the form

One other piece of info - I am NOT the board or license owner - but an additionall support contact to that license as allowed by the rules - could this be the problem?

The license owner needs to log on here and add his or her license information, and then ADD you as an additional email address to his or her account - they your account will be activated too. That is my understanding of how it works... someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Are you talking about the form that you directed me to before or this forum?

If the former then she HAS added her license info to that form - and added me.

She is ALSO unable to access the download areas of this forum.

Does she have an owned licence or a leased licence?
i think it doesn't work with leased licences, but hit me i can be wrong..

also be sure there are TWO form, one for support on the vbulletin.com forums and one for support here.
perhaps she has entered you into the wrong form.

It is a leased licence. Are you telling me I am not allowed to download hacks if we only have a leased licence???

Also, the joining instructions only gave a link to ONE form. There was no mention of a separate form for this forum. If you insist this is true could you at least give me the URL of the second form?

EDIT: hmm, appears the forms were merged into one which keeps emails instead of usernames. So if the email that you have assosiated with your account here, you should be good to go.

That is the form that we HAVE filled in - I've tried both my username on here and also the email address that I have used to register here. Neither appears to work.

Erwin will definitely need to track this down. A theory might be is that the form is case sensitive?

the vbulletin.org.php redirects to forum.php isn't forum.php used for vbulletin support forums?

yes, both leased and owned gives you the privilege.

Any news on this? There are a couple of hacks that we REALLY need before we are fit to "go live" .. being unable to access these hacks is really slowing us down.

PS - our new domain name has now propagated and the problem still exists - so it wasn't that :-S

have you tried to reenter your email addy now that the DNS are updated?

you have to use this addy: dave.robin****@virg**.net (changed a bit, so no other can see ;))

The admin will look into it, but they have a lot of work while porting all over ;)

And then simply submit the form, without making any changes.
It should then re-register your email address and mark you as licensed. (There was a problem with some users who registered just when we were switching licensing methods.)

then if i own a vbulletin and dont have login and pass, can download?

Please go here and and enter your email address, to show you are licensed. (you will need to use your customer number and password to access that page)

From there, you will be able to access hacks on this site plus other restricted portions unavailable to non-vBulletin owners.

because my vbulletin is downloaded free, i dont have a login and pass you see.

vBulletin is not free. You can not download it for free.
Please provide a URL of your current installation in addition to purchasing a valid license here

As stated before, you can not download vBulletin for free. If you did, you obtained an illegal copy and can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for software piracy.

If you use a copy of vb which you have downloaded free, you are using an illegal software.

you have to delete it immediatelly.

i tracked you down frog, your forum has been submitted to the piracy form, if i where you i would deleate and and pay for vbulletin.

frog: why did you open your "§$"!/(§$%% mouth in the first place? - i wouldnt if i were you. but now that youre sacked, you better pay up or get your ass busted.
