Server busy, come later?!!
Guys, I made my forum online after I get attacks from hackers trying to make my server busy..
today when I put the forum online, after few minutes I got a message at the forum home page: Server is busy, try later... so how to deal with this? |
Is it dedicated or shared? If shared, talk to your host to set up preventative measures. Try banning the hacker IPs. There are anti-hacking measures you can implement on a server level if it's dedicated. Try asking at the vB.com server forums.

you definately want to talk to your server owner, he/she, would love to be able to help end that problem :]
if you own your server, then you should know how to grab their ip's and ban them from your server :] |
banning IP is not a perfect solution, however, in my country each internet user is assigned for a dynamic IP. After he/she disconnect and connect again, another IP is assgned!!.
bty it is a shared server and I am willing to have my own server which hot company and server specification you recommend? |
You can lease servers at racknine.com, they have pretty decent prices and service, if you are looking for a lower leased server package, but not as good as racknine, try rackshack.net (beware, there support is not as good as there prices ;))

I use racknine.com too - I know Matt, the CEO. If you do go with racknine.com, tell Matt that Erwin sent you. :)
|
Hey what a coincidence. I'm hosted with racknine too. :)

By the way Hak... You might check out this hack by Logician as well - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=37549
It's a simple banning method that puts a cookie on someone's computer where they can't log out. It's been one of my favorite banning methods since I found it. You'd be amazed how many people will never think to clear their cookies when they've been banned. That combined with good old fashioned IP banning usually does the trick for me. ;) |
Go to CP then under you options there is a Simultaneous sessions choice. If that is set to a certain number the next person is sent the server too busy message. If you set this to 0 make sure you watch your server load so you don't have the chance of a run-away server if you have a very busy board and not enough horsepower.
|
I checked the Simultaneous session option and it is set to Zero?
I guess the busy message happen because of some hackers are trying to ping the site or something!! |

is shown again with hte message: the server too busy.. try to come later... There must be a solution guys!! pls :nervous: |
Talk to your host. Your site is either too busy for your server, or you are getting DOS attacks. Your host should be able to help you with it.
|
I did and still following up
but u know what happened? they suspended my account because it took 80-90% of server work!! but anyway I will keep you updated guys for our info. |
guys I set:
- Simultaneous sessions limit to zero - *NIX Load Limit to zero and I don't see the "server too busy" anymore.. but the browsing of the forum keeps going slow during the time.. :cross-eyed: |
Your server is TOO busy.
Click on my "Reduce Bandwidth" link in my sig to find ways to reduce bandwidth. You may have to upgrade your host, since your forums is obviously becoming too busy for a shared server. |
