ps if anyone can send me the templates in english that would be great too. I tried the get it to work doc and now it is in german. :banana:

The templates are in English, aren't they? Only the variables are French. Also, the chatbox can only be used by registered members. Guests cannot use it. What is the usergroupid for your registered members? By default it's 2. If you have changed it to anything else, you may have to edit the hack.

also yeah it is in german because I used a text file called " get it to work " because it wasnt working! cheers so far

Are you saying your registered members can't use it?

yeah it is weird, I have two accounts one as a registered member and one as an admin. It works just fine for me with both accounts, but all of my members say it doesnt work for them. I dont have a clue why. I dont know if this help or makes a difference but I was the first person to use it. thanks for your time.

That is weird alright. Is this ALL your registered members who cannot use it? Get them to clear their cookies and try again.

I just asked a member to clear all their cookies and it still didnt work. any other ideas?

Did you run the admin/shoutbox_admin.php file and set it up properly?

Did you use to have TWTCommish's hack? There may be conflict as they use the same table names. Your problem is strange as they can see the shoubox.php page, so it's not a permission problem. But when they post a shout, nothing shows up. Did you change anything at all to the hack? Did you run the queries to install the tables?

One thing I always try when I get a bug that I don't know the cause of, is to delete everything (all files, templates and db entries) and start over. It usually works. :)

nope I never had TWTCommish's hack. I think I will reinstall it from the start, thanks for all your help, advice and time.

oh well still no luck. I guess I will look at another chat based hack

I've got a problem doing backups and restore to a test database with this hack.

The hack works great, my members love it, but everytime I have to upgrade or do a backup, I have to remove the shoutbox and start over. This prevents me from doing periodic backups.

What's the score? Any fixes for this problem?

btw, it's not so much having to start over when I do an upgrade, I can live with that, it's that the backups are corrupted. I can't keep removing the shoutbox everytime I do a backup.
