i'm freakin out...

my HD just crashed yesterday. my forums were completed 99%.
i lost everything the work of one month of hard coding...

never buy a maxtor hd. i had twice the same prob with them.

Vile 10-13-2002 02:18 AM

OMG..

That really stinks, sorry to hear that. :(

Mone' 10-13-2002 02:24 AM

i think we are never going to see your forums.........lol
you love teasing us with the screenshots........

Erwin 10-13-2002 03:44 AM

What!!! That is a disaster! :(

Part of the reason why I have 2 hard disks on my computer, one for running programs, the other for backup.

Xenon 10-13-2002 09:06 AM

Bad news Floren :(

if we could help with anything just ask ok?

Erwin 10-13-2002 10:11 AM

Yeah, if you need any help, let me know. Just PM me.

Dean C 10-13-2002 11:15 AM

omg that is more than a disaster... thats terrible Floren..

I hope you can sort it out somehow :(

Regards

Chris M 10-13-2002 11:22 AM

Chris

Lesane 10-13-2002 01:08 PM

I know how you feel :(

Happened to me before, but then with a virus.

Sucks for you Floren. Keep ya head up ;)

DrkFusion 10-13-2002 01:37 PM

:(
That sucks, if it was jsut your o/s, then you can put your HD as a slave, and buy another harddrive put that as master, install the new O/S on the new harddrive, and move everything from your maxtor slave to this one, but if that is not the case, sorry :( Im here if you need help though like everyone above

-Arunan

N9ne 10-13-2002 01:58 PM

Very unlucky Floren :( Really sorry to hear about it, remember though, we're all here to help :)

assassingod 10-13-2002 04:00 PM

Sucks TECK:( Has happened to me before - never trust a home-made HDD:)

DrkFusion 10-13-2002 04:16 PM

May I also suggest having 2 different harddrives, set one as slave, and store files only, and no program files. People may think this is the same as partitioning your drive, but is isn't.

Trust me you are safe. Anyways I hope you really do start the site again :)

FHCUK

Whats going to be the game plan now?

NTLDR 10-13-2002 07:26 PM

Have you tried any data recovery programs TECK? They can work wonders when you drive crashes or you do something silly ;)

Velocd 10-13-2002 07:30 PM

That's horrible Teck :'(

My site crashed once and I lost everything, but the second time rebuilding I was able to recreate it far better. Maybe you will have that chance as well? Don't lose all hope ;)

Xelation 10-13-2002 07:47 PM

wow that really sux, I was really looking forward to seeing it :(

I was looking forward to see it more then you :(

I agree with Velocd, my site crashed onces, too so I closed it and sold it, that was the sadest thing I have ever done, please do not do that, many people are really looking forward to a new, different site taking full adantage of vbulletins features, and a great source for help, and a new place to hang around with others who have the same interest as ours. Your screenshots show potential in your site, and I know for sure that would be my new message board home.

To Vb Users:
Don't worry I won't abandon you guys :)

Sad to hear:(

Whatever you may choose, just know anytime you change your mind ppl at vb.com and vb.org are here to help, most of us have experienced the same thing.

If you do change your mind, I am willing to contribute those Noia icons, if you don't have them, the ones you were using for your icons. I got similar ones atleast, I will be glad to compile them and send it over.

Good luck

Erwin 10-14-2002 03:51 AM

You didn't have any files on an external server at all? :( That is a sad thing to happen.

I know how much of a pain in the arse this must be, but I hope it doesn't come to what you mentioned above. You are very talented in what you do, so it would be sad if you stopped now.

Xelation 10-14-2002 02:11 PM

Teck, next time I think it would be wise to have a board on your site and comp... just password protect it

Graphics 10-14-2002 02:25 PM

Awww... That soo sucks TECK! As everone else has said, if you need any help with anything, just say... :(

i'm backing up everything from now on, every day, related to coding, etc.
i dont want to go through that crap again.
i started working again on the vb228 code. finisted the global and sessions.php files and lowered the the forumhome index.php file to 14queries, including the poll, the news roller, latest threads, etc... all the goodies i had before...

i'm not really pissed at the code loast.. this is not that bad... is more of the graphs.. i worked alot on them and they are gone all.

Damn... I dont know. We could try and update VB2.2.8 to the version you somewhat had. Or I guess wait for VB3.. But VB2 might be nice to stick with?

DrkFusion 10-15-2002 01:36 AM

[/high]

eh?

Anyway, if I were you I'd wait for vB3, in the meantime improve your coding or graphic skills, maybe work on some outside applications involving PHP/MySQL, or other projects. ;)

freeshares1 10-15-2002 05:12 AM
