Pre-sale question

Ok guys, this is pretty much a make it, or break it question for me to purchase VBoard.

Right now I am using Invision Board. I like it a lot, but like VBoard better.

What I am wondering is, is there a hack available to transfer members and posts to the VBoard??

If there is no way to do this, I do not think I'll purchase.

I think I have seen something about vbulletin having a invisionboard converter.

Here are the official scripts that currently allow you to import into vBulletin:

Quote:

We currently offer a set of scripts that will allow you to import posts, threads and users from the following programs: Infopop Ultimate Bulletin Board 5, Infopop Ultimate Bulletin Board 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2, Infopop UBBThreads 5.4 (formerly wwwthreads), vBulletin Lite, Infopop OpenTopic/UBB.x, Ikonboard 2, Ikonboard 3, phpBB2, DC Forum, XMB, and ezboard (posts only, not members for ezboard).
You may find that you can convert Invision to one of these and then one of these to vBulletin.

ManagerJosh 09-13-2002 09:29 PM

NTLDR, Invision Board is a brand new board that took to the market recently. None of the above vBulletin importers will work.

I think it is time for Jelsoft to release a Invision Board...There has been numerous requests at VBdotCOM

MistyMeanor 09-13-2002 09:44 PM

What does that mean nessacarily? I am not very computer saavy, people set up my php script for me.

So there is no way to convert my members and threads over?

I really wanted VBoard.

never never post at any forum after midnight...*run and sleep...*

PlatinumGame 09-14-2002 01:38 AM

Goldknight read ManagerJosh's post.

I am also very interested in a IB to vB 2.2.7 converter. Any vB hackers here working on such a converter? Since there won't be one from Jelsoft til vB3 is out which is way too far for me and probaly others, this is wanted greatly.

MistyMeanor 09-14-2002 01:47 AM

Yes I totally agree. I am wanting to switch as soon as possible. Is there nobody out there that can make a converter from IB to VB?

I know :) which is why I said that you would need to convert from invision to one of the boards vB supports and the convert to vB. I didn't say a converter was avalible as I know was isn't and probably won't be untill vB3 is realeased.

So the importers will work if you can export Invision to phpBB for example.

I believe ManagerJosh is saying that because IB is new there aren't any converters from IB to any of the boards you posted.

Anybody up to making one? :(

ManagerJosh 09-14-2002 10:16 PM

besides that PlatniumGame, would you want to fuss over the hassle to import? You need to go upload and install another forum to act as a importer.

It is just tedious to use Invison Board Convert to another board and then vBulletin....

Too much of a headache..

Yup. Too much trouble when it can be done easily if someone would be generous enough to write a script. :bored:

That may be the case, but I'd rather go through that and be able to use vB and keep my members and posts that either lose them or have to use Invision.

PlatinumGame 09-15-2002 09:24 PM

I stand corrected. There is a converter from IB to phpBB but I will use this only as a last resort. No one interested in doing a converter?

ManagerJosh 09-16-2002 01:31 AM

How odd Platnium. I didn't see it....hmmm I'll probably go over there and take apart their import and make it an Invision Board to VB Import...

No promises though :)

Update: There is no Invision Board importer for IB to phpBB. However there is an importer that allows you to import phpBB to Invision Board.

PlatinumGame 09-16-2002 04:22 PM

ManagerJosh I don't think you looked hard enough.

ManagerJosh 09-16-2002 08:55 PM

Hmmm...didn't see that. I noticed it is still in beta phase though. I looked at the official ones that work that's why...

PlatinumGame 09-16-2002 09:12 PM

I ran a conversion of my old IB and it worked fine.

ManagerJosh 09-17-2002 05:41 PM

Dunno what to say then...but I can certainly say I've already gotten one big bruise by writing one import script...probably won't tackle this one for quite some time...

MistyMeanor 09-18-2002 07:48 PM

Is this not an import from IB to phbb? My friend that has phbb sent this to me.

ManagerJosh 09-18-2002 09:15 PM

Yeah it is Misty. However, using the phpBB importer in the members are at VBdotCOM, you could transfer the information over into vBulletin.

In this case, phpBB becomes a median for transfering.

MistyMeanor 09-18-2002 09:18 PM

So by using this I could transfer all my members and posts into phbb and then from phbb into vb?

I'd really prefer to go straight from ib to vb, but I guess that isn't an option. :(

Zachery 03-24-2004 03:45 PM
