Who all dreads the vb3 release
Who all dreads all the work there gonna have to do when it comes out. All the hack porting up all the site recoding and stuff that will proble be needed.
Im dreading all the work becuase my site/vb is modified way more then alot of boards. Plus i have redone over half the templates in some way or another and my site is even vb powered thro a small portal i threw together. |
i don't dread it :p at the slow rate im working my site won't release until vb3 is released (or not) but its all good... as long as there's new coding to learn and more to hack :) yeah ;)

It should be rather fun to port all of my hacks over to vB3. :)
|
No dreading here, but I'm not quite sure how I'm going to handle upgrading. My site is so hugely integrated with vBulletin :dead:
Maybe I can just dissect vB3 enough to update vB2.2.6 with the features ;) |
I am not going to use VB3 I dont really like anything about it and I can make all the features on it (if I wanted) for my 2.2.6
|
I love the new vb3 and i can port all my stuff up it is just gonna be alot of work since my site is fully vb powered and im working on a vb2.2.6 download hack i plan to have ready for beta testing by the end of this weekend.

after all less queries are always better right? 12 for the main page. |
Performance is really the only needed thing I could quite possibly care for in the new vBulletin. But more in part with the templating system. The current vBulletin template system runs my whole site very nicely, but has some inefficiencies (ie. 1 template at a time editing, no comparing, etc. etc.)
The main 2 features I am looking foward of vB3 is the similar threads, although I don't expect it to be much different in my version (since I run a small forum), and also the groups thing. |
The quick reply box still sucks IMO in vB3. I'm sure somehow will throw a hack together to bypass the extra button click.

^ agreed with erwin on the quick reply....

Man my download hack im making is gonna need so much recoding when vb3 comes out.
|
I'm not too worried about vB3 as I will only change to vB3 once there's millions of hacks for it, so that'll be atleast a few months after it's released I should think.
|
So far, vB 3 looks good, but I will not upgrade until I have tested it:)

I'm not gonna upgrade to vb3 right away. I wait a while till bugs are fixed and more hacks are available.
|
i will upgrade rightaway to vb3, but that's just me. when i jump from 22 queries to 12 on a page, that's alot to me. alot of options that are showing now on the beta site are not even finished...
i'm convinced that, once finished, vb3 will simply be a very flexible piece of software with a very attractive look. now, we have a tendency to think it's the same but with a little change here and there... because we see the OLE template look. :) ahh... and the quick reply box button that "sucks" is automatically removed if you disable the threaded look in the admin CP and use only the classic linear one. :) |
VB3 has alot of nice new stuff and i love the sub forums display. I would be using the hack for doing that but that hack adds 2 quiries per subforum.
|
i had stop adding hacks every since version 2.2.5 onwards
|
how come?
|
Maybe because versions are being released left and right in the past few months...not sure, maybe he doesn't want to re-hack.
As long as they don't release new versions like UBB, hell they release a new version every week :@ |
