Hack News v3.0
 

I finally decided to translate it in english (i'm french) :nervous:

This hack allows you to add on your index page a system of news viewable by all your members. You manage news via the admin CP, they are displayed on the forum in the shape of a "marquee" text.

You can insert HTML when you add a news in the admin CP and so, you can insert images, or effects on your text.

You can have the number of news you want, display will automatically adjust :)

You can totally customize the display too by editing the 3 new templates to make it more beautifull or adjust it with your visual theme !

Colors automatically adjust too with your themes but you can change it (put a background...) by modifying the templates

Is there a limit to the number of letters in each news item? and how many news items get displayed on the site at anyone time?

Looks great bu I already have the news ader installed ^^

i've followed all the instructions but is doesnt show up
on my header template, put the $news_affichage

Dont put this variable in the header but in your template forumhome ! ;)

For Ninth Dimension Each news is defined a a mediumtext in the DB, you can increase it by longtext but i think it is enough so !
All news you add are displayed, there is no limit, to remove a news item, just remove it from the DB via the admin CP ! ;)

Installed but only allows for 1 itemt then I get a sql error when adding additonal news items.

Database error in vBulletin Control Panel 2.2.6:

Invalid SQL: INSERT INTO news (newsid,comments) VALUES ('Test','test')
mysql error: Duplicate entry '0' for key 1

mysql error number: 1062

Choose a number as id for your news item

Each news has to have a different number id ! ;)

I have installed newshack 3.0 and went over to check and see if all the installation was done correctly (and it was) but the news does not appear. I have pasted $news_affichage right after $header and still nothing.

Could it be that the weatherhack is causing some problem?

Here is the new version of my hack

Modification between version3.0 and version4.0 :

- Best integration in the forum due to the variable {contenttatblewidth} in the news templates concerned, so, news templates'width is now the same that your forum's width.
- you can now add smilies directly
- You can now put vbcodes directly
- You can choose to display or no news from your admin CP

The archive countains an upgrade file to upgrade from v3 to v4 easily ;)


Modification par rapport a la version 3:

- Meilleure integration dans le forum grace a l'insertion d'une variable {contenttatblewidth} dans les templates news concernees, ce qui a pour effet d'ajuster automatiquement la largeur des news a celle de votre forum (par ex si vous avez defini une taille differente par rapport a l'origine)
- Affichage des smileys directement via leur code
- Possibilitee de mettre des vbcodes
- Possibilit?e d'afficher ou non les news, gerables directement depuis le CP

L'archive contient egalement un fichier de Mise a jour pour passer plus facilement de la version 3 a la 4 ;)

When you use the news update 3_4 it is French.

I can't get the news to stick everytime I press submit it goes to 0 when adding a news.

Got the same as yxboom, I installed it, everything did go perfect. But when your in the admin cp, and press: Manage tour news or add --> the things there are in french (like yxboom says: news.php is frenche)
