Add GLOW vB Buttons (v1.1)

Add GLOW vB Buttons to New Thread / New Reply (v1.1)

This will add GLOW vB Buttons... Screen shots attached in next post... If you install... Please click install. I also forgot to mention that this is my first "hack", so tell me what you think... This has been tested by some members, but things could still screw up... DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP!

SCREENSHOTS:
Buttons
Glow Effect

ONLINE DEMO:
I've installed it on my board: http://www.cnchq.com/forum

How to add more colors?
Just add a duplicate (queries, template, and file edits), change "red" to your desired color.

UPDATES:

- 8/23/02 FIXED QUERIES... (v1.1) Thanks to: danielhollands :)

NTLDR 08-10-2002 08:40 PM

The text file is empty and the name of it suggest that this isn't a hack at all, just some vB code to add in the AdminCP

Matt87 08-10-2002 08:41 PM

This adds vB Buttons similar to FireFly's Hack on adding PHP, and Code buttons.

A.T.F 08-10-2002 08:42 PM

I think the txt file is working now, well atleast it looks like it is, but yes, maybe this is not classified as a "hack"

Someone tell me what yout think?

DestyNova 08-10-2002 09:37 PM

good job, :thumb up:

Velocd 08-10-2002 09:42 PM

phenomenal. :thumbs up also:
:p

Oh, this is not a hack also. Firefly may have released versions like this for the PHP button, but then again, FireFly is the admin :p

edit:
then again, since it does run queries..I am probably wrong. anyway..

MrLister 08-10-2002 10:09 PM

Looks good :) More color to boards

Matt87 08-10-2002 10:19 PM

Thanks all...

Matt87 08-10-2002 10:22 PM

Its my first....

Was the Install clean enough?

MrLister 08-10-2002 10:23 PM

It was easy to follow. Good job.

Matt87 08-10-2002 10:30 PM

Thanks! :classic:

[D]Vincent 08-10-2002 10:41 PM

Nice I guess but you should do a dropdown instead.

Matt87 08-10-2002 10:54 PM

Might be in the next version... :)

proxyMX 08-10-2002 10:58 PM

hmm lesannes store hack pops to mind

zootsuit 08-11-2002 01:41 AM

I think all user end hacks should be integrated into Lesane's store. :cheeky:

proxyMX 08-11-2002 01:33 PM

i said this because it IS really a feature in lesanes store hack, the code wouldnt have been hard if they had lesanes store

Matt87 08-11-2002 04:20 PM

It is? This adds buttons so that when you write a message you can add a glowing effect. This DOES NOT add a glowing effect to your username.

Boofo 08-11-2002 07:08 PM

Why do you need to run any queries doing this? I have the same code you do and I don't have to run any queries.

Matt87 08-11-2002 07:11 PM

You don't HAVE to run queries, you could add the custom vB code by using the admin cp, but it would take longer.

Boofo 08-11-2002 07:57 PM

It will take just as long to run the queries as it will to enter them as a new vbcode. :)

Can anybody tell me what the @#$(!)P@#( is going on here? There are messages posted in my name with strange signs in them and I don't have anything to do with this! :(

Kars10 08-11-2002 09:19 PM

@ Black Tiger, last week on the TWT-Shoutboxhack, i?ll postet and next to my post the same wierd posting in your name. The same as here....

BlackTiger 08-11-2002 09:36 PM

Yep, there are several forums in which this happened and I can't explain it. There must be about 15 ore more of these strange posts in several forums.

I wrote a mail to info@vbulletin.org now to have a look at it. Because I don't want to get a bad name for things I don't do.
Thanks anyway for the reply. Maybe with this the admin can have a better understanding about how this problem occurs.

How do you do this w/o running a query?

Also, how do you add more colors? The screenshot shows green too, but it's not in the install.

Boofo 08-12-2002 04:26 AM

You add a new vbcode entry.

Just repeat the process, but change "red" or "blue" to green, yellow, black, etc.

I had it on my board, but for some reason the green didn't work.

aquariumpros 08-13-2002 12:07 AM

Can anyone give me the information to add into the Add New vB Code section of the AdminCP? I tried to run the query - but I got an error stating:

MySQL said:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near '\\\'Glowred\\\', \\\'<table style=\\\"filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)\\\">\\\' at line 1
Thanks in advance,

Matt87 08-13-2002 12:13 AM

Try this:

Code:

INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (12, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">\\4</table>', '[GLOWRED]Glow[/GLOWRED]', '', 0);

INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (11, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">\\4</table>', '[GLOWBLUE]Glow[/GLOWBLUE]', '', 0);

Do them one at a time

I still get the same error?!?!?!

Can you suggest anything else?

I am running the query in the main page of MySQL. Do I have to run the query within/under the 'bbcode' table?

Sorry...I'm only still learning about MySQL/PHP.

Thank you greatly for your assistance,

Matt87 08-13-2002 12:37 AM

OK... try this:

Code:

INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (99, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">\\4</table>', '[GLOWRED]Glow[/GLOWRED]', '', 0);
Code:

INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (98, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">\\4</table>', '[GLOWBLUE]Glow[/GLOWBLUE]', '', 0);

Sorry...I'm only still learning about MySQL/PHP.

Matt87 08-13-2002 12:42 AM

Put it under the BB code... It shouldn't make any difference but try it

aquariumpros 08-13-2002 12:48 AM

Thank you!!!

That was it. I ran the query within the 'bbcode' table - and it was added and now works!

Thank you again for a great "hack" and super support!!

Cheers,

Thank you Boofo for that very insightful answer. :) You care to elaborate? What is the vbcode for this.

Masta Ace 08-15-2002 12:43 PM
