I think we are all finished drooling, now its time for drooling of usercp brbr
 |
I just care for the ACP :)
[high]* Velocd MUST SEE ACP ;)[/high] |
yes
/me drools just thinking about the "acp" |
/me just drools for no reason
|
Fascinating :)
.... |
I know ++++ about PHP, so I really have no idea what threaded view is. But if it is what I think it is, I don't like vB3, unless it's off by default, or there's an option to turn it off (Having it off by default would be more desirable..). It just looks like a vB with a bunch of hacks so far (Ones I would never use by the way ;)).
I guess it's just me that isn't really looking forward to it. |

I'm apprehensive because my members are all used to my current vB2.2.6 with all its customized features and hack... to have to go to vB3 and have to start from scratch again (since none of the the hacks will work) is very unappealing... but it has to be done when the time comes...
|
At the moment, although vB3 is looking good, there isnt really anything that can already be achieved with a vB 2.2.6 board, apart from the Javascript basing...
There are 3 main concerns of mine : 1.) I will get it, and it wont live up to my expectations...It is already beginning to wear off (sorry guys) 2.) It looks a bit shabby - I know it is because of the vB2 style on it, but it doesnt seem as smooth as 2.2.6...I know it is only a BETA, but it will need alot more features pre-installed before I upgrade to it:) 3.) It will require the knowledge of Javacscript...I am just beginning to get the hand of PHP, and the HTML -> PHP mixup, without needing to learn Javascript...I dont want to have to learn Javascript just to be able to make a Template Modification! I think I will stick with 2.2.6, unless I see some major improvements/addons with vB3 that I just cannot resist... Btw : Threaded view suxz more than anything...I hope you can Globally turn it off!:) Satan |
Have you even registered?
Threaded view is not set as standard view upon registration, however if you wish to tuen it on you can. Personally I won't use it but hey some may like it. You would be able to take it out very easy anyway. Just make it default and remove it from the options? VB3 looks promising, however from that beta it looks early works., |
Yes I have registerd...
Im userid 132;) Its not just the threaded view you know...I would make Linear standard, so as not to confuse my members... Satan |
right.
Thats what I was saying linear is standard on that vb3 beta! ;) |
Are all of those links in the usercp going to be squished if it's on a 750-760 px table. o_O
|
/me drools uncontrollably.
|
The closer the day vB3 gets released, the more worried I get... basically because my site is so hacked that it would be a nightmare to upgrade and lose all the changes.
I'm not only talking about cosmetic changes. My whole admin control is modified for different levels of admins. Plus my multiple levels of suspension and banning - all hardcoded, and all potentially worthless in vB3... the headaches I get thinking and worrying about it... :) |
*joins the vb3D team* ;)
|
its still an early beta, but it looks pretty cool
i really like it :) |
That is the main reason I don't like hard-coding things if I can use a template to achieve the same goal. It is a heck of a lot easier to upgrade that way.

I personally don't care for the threaded view.... difficult to see the usefulness of it.
I do like the new editor, though... very sweet. I'm interested in the new CP, also... that will be the selling point for me. My bb isn't very hacked, so I'm probably gonna upgrade as soon as V3 is available. |
Personally, I dont like nor hate vB3...
After the coolness of vB 2.2.x, and the fact that I have hacked my board with quite a few vB.org hacks, and quite a few of my own, makes me want to test out vB3 before upgrading my own board... Satan |
