Need xx posts to make an new thread

Thanks to Lesane (my hack is based on his minimum number of days to make new thread hack)
And thanks to Xenon for beta testing and bugfixing

Screenie in next post ;)

Info:
This hack will add an extra field when you create or edit an forum wich alows you to set an minimum number of posts before users can make an new thread. If users don't have enough posts they will see an output stating the minimum number of posts needed.

Edit info:
5 edits in 2 files
1 SQL query
1 new template

Hope you'll enjoy this hack!

If you installed it please click "INSTALL", thank you ;)

[edit]
confirmed working on ALL 2.2.x version of vbulletin.

Important if you have installed Lesane's store hack 2.0 (only checked it on that one)
My script asks you to update admin/forum.php. Lesane's also did that. So be sure you do those steps very carefully!. If you update the db entries, you will find the code that I tell you to find not working. Just look at the difference and ADD the difference between done and undone (in my txt).

;)

Neo 07-23-2002 10:45 PM

Everything should be added to vb3 T_T

CRego3D 07-24-2002 09:28 PM

Xenon 07-24-2002 09:30 PM

CRego3D 07-24-2002 09:44 PM

well, I decided to just try, and yep, works like a champ on 2.2.5 :D

Mephisteus 07-25-2002 12:23 PM

Great you all like it :) I am going to make some addons for it :)

Kiraly 07-26-2002 09:06 PM

what addon?

Mephisteus 07-27-2002 12:24 PM

Not really addons, more like some sort of similar hacks. You'll see them when there here :)

ZiRu$ 08-01-2002 03:04 PM

Gonna Install it now!!!!! thx

bonnmac 08-26-2002 04:15 PM

Would it be possible to use this similarly to need_xx_posts_to_reply?

I want to have a support forum but I only want people who participate to be able to reply

Mephisteus 09-07-2002 12:31 PM

yes, I'll work on it right now :)

Here it is, I didn't test this one though.

It has the same basics as the new thread, only this one works on reply's :p

YOU MUST HAVE THE NEW THREAD VERSION INSTALLED!

Bison 12-08-2002 04:40 PM

Kinda need this right now ...

So far working on 2.2.9!

Thanks!

Logikos 01-26-2003 04:34 AM

what about xx amout of post to enter a certain forum

Floris 01-30-2003 07:36 AM

Nice hack, we are looking for something like this.

There is a specific forum where we only want users who have more then 50 posts, can post a reply and/or start a new thread in.

I will try to install this hack on 2.2.9 and apply that little addon for the reply.

*hope all goes well*

TranceMaster 03-03-2003 01:50 PM

great hack
but i have the Minimum Posts to view Forum hack installed
and i just installed ur hack, and whatever i change Minimum Posts to make a new thread to it automatically changes Minimum Posts to view Forum to the exact same number.

TranceMaster 03-04-2003 02:28 PM

anyone?
pleaseee

VPREATR 03-06-2003 03:55 PM

What about min. posts/min. days? Basically a user needs 30 days or 30 posts before he/she can post in a specific forum? This would be great for classified sections. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

John Diver 02-11-2004 12:34 PM

Hey,
I have this installed but its causing a problem with one of my forums (one that I know of anyway)

One of my members is complaining that he cant post in one of the forums but everyone else can, its set to 0 posts required for this specific forum but he is saying that he still cant post.

No-one else has had a problem posting though

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
John
