Avatar Hack: one use avatar
 

A used avatar cannot be selected by another user.

Latest version: 1.10 (6-14-2002)

Features:

• can be deactivated in the vB admin CP options.
• The following options are adjustable in the avatars list for used avatars:
  - Showing only the available avatars
  - Showing 'avatar in use'
  - Show avatar with a note
  - Showing own picture.
  You must copy your own picture into the directory 'images/avatars/'. It must have the name 'avatarused.gif'.
• When user decide to change their avatar, their previous goes into the avatar list - It is available again for other users now.
• This hack is compatible with the hack avatar categories & usergroups v1.25.x (v1.10).
• Tested with vBulletin 2.2.5, 2.2.6

Small suggestion:
With the avatars in note, It would be cool if it showed the avatar picture in use then below stated its in use ;)

I don't understand. Sorry :o Do you mean, if a person has selected a avatar, whether the avatar is then still shown on the avatars list?

Nice hack man, I have been looking for this, I have 300+ members and 900+ avatars, only 80 avatars are being used by all the 300 members, so many doubles..

Stupid question: is it compatible with your Avatar Catagories hack? Because, I spent a long time trying to get that bloddy thing working... :( And I say stupid because you wrote both of them...

Hi. I just wanted to tell you that I couldn't use this hack with the Categories hack on my 2.2.6. Something isn't compatible. When I have both, I am unable to select an avatar from the user cp. I click on it, but nothing happens. And if I have an avatar, it takes that one away, also. I can select from the admin cp.

When I reverted my member.php, I was able to select an avatar again. I hope we can find a way around this. I really like this hack!

Great hack Madman. I might not be able to use it though because there are reasons for some of our members to have the same Avatar.

What I was looking for was a way to lock out anyone else from using my avatar, the admin. It's larger than the forum allows, the only way I can even use it was to install it as an avatar. Is there a way to just simply keep others from using my avatar?

I have an interesting question.......if there are users that are using the same avatar......what happens after installing this?

Does one lose it? Do both lose it?

Hi, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one, now. Thanks bunches for the avatar in category fix. It's one of my first hacks that I HAD to have! Just to remind you or the problem I am dealing with:

"When I have this hack and the category hack, I am unable to select an avatar from the user cp. I click on it and get this error upon submitting:

"There has been an error in the upload. Please ensure that the file has been correctly selected and that the upload has taken place successfully."

Both users can use the same avatars. But if a user would like to change his avatar, he cannot select the same avatar again...

Great idea for a hack! If it hadn't been the case that my board's 336 avatars are a very popular avatar-pack available online from several sites, I'd have installed this. Now, however, there's the ever-so-big chance that a user on my site can just take an avatar that is in use from the pack and upload it as his/her own custom avatar... :/

But a great hack nonetheless, just wanted to let you know :)

Can you PLEASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE fix this hack for 2.2.8.....a LOT has changed.....it works good on 2.2.6 but not 2.2.8

Yes I do have the AVATAR CATEGORY's hack installed.....

I found the last change to member.php but i couldn't find the first 3.....

And yes i did select I "AM" using the category hack.

In registration a new member can take avatars already in use!

(I don't have the AVATAR CATEGORY's hack installed)

does it work with 2.3.0?

Hi there,
I installed the one use Avatar hack, and it works perfectly on 2.3.3, the problem i wanna find a solution for, is that the new members, during their registration, can chose every of the avatars, the taken or not taken. This hack is working for the presents members, and do not involved the procedure of registration!

Is there any way, i can also protect the taken avatars, for being selected by the new members during their registration?
