The best I have seen was the one vB has. Speaking of the store would anyone like to install it for me?!

That store software on that site is OSCommerce. It is GPL and you can download it from www.oscommerce.com/.

Did anything come out of this? I am currently looking for something about the same myself.

I never proceded with my plans to open a store. However *ironically* today i drew up plans for a store system intigrated with paypal. I assure you this will take me ages so don't wait for meeeeeeeeeee ;)

I use cafepress. The best thing about them is that they offer a free e-commerce and merchandising solution.

Im using Sunshop (Php and $100 US) on two sites - www.sizematters.com.au and www.pictureofhealth.com.au

My next project is to write a fully integrated cart for vBulletin. Give it a few weeks...

Mist - Great I will keep my open for it.

Erwin - Yeah I think I will will be tryin the Cafe myself, I was looking into some codes for it last night. Looks like there is a couple worth tryin.

webdork - There is always so much money that gets tied up into everything :p

I guess I'm lost here. What would you need a store for with vBulletin?

Velocd 03-05-2003 03:52 AM

Easy, to make money, by selling your merchandise, which utimately contributes to the advertisement of your site/business. ;)

I personally like Cafepress, maybe just because it's a gigantic outlier in the shop business compared to some other related services, but it's probably not the most personalized of shops out there. Still, if you're a business who doesn't want to deal with the coding of your own shop, Cafepress is a great solution.

There are sooooooooooo many reasons why a forum driven site helps ecommerce sites to sell online...

I have specialised in e-commerce driven forums now for about the last 5 or 6 years. I first sold online in 1989 via a BBS and then in 1992 via the web.

I would now HIGHLY recommend any ecommerce site use a forum to drive sales...

Think of them as a content publishing system where your site changes every day - but you dont do any of the work (or a bare minimum) that also gets a large proportion of users back to your site EVERY day and in many cases - several times per day - where you can display your ad messages...

Tie this in with ecommerce and you have a winner!

Personally I found osCommerce a nightmare to work with. Badly coded hunk of junk that is almost impossible to modify and rebrand. X-Cart (formerly F-Cart) is the same... I havent tried Cafepress. I had a look at it, but went with Sunshop. If you cant make $100 to pay for an online store then you shouldnt be in business.

A store intigrated with the forums means that to buy products your members have to sign up and you can limit the use of the store to usergroups and ban people from the store etc..
