Vote for vB Hack of the Month - May

Hey you hackers,

It's time to pick the best of the best for May. Please peruse through all the hacks and vote for the one you think should win.

.........and may the best hack win!

Scott

NTLDR 05-01-2002 06:10 PM

vBindex gets my vote, it now powers my entire website via a few mods :D

Admin 05-01-2002 06:25 PM

Contract Old Posts for me. :)

TECK 05-01-2002 09:00 PM

i dont understand... i had several people voting for my hacks.
vbHome (lite) had the highest count and you add vbIndex instead?

vbIndex was nominated only by it's own author, 1 vote. i had at least 5 votes for vbHome.
can you please tell me what is going on?
also, if you are going to correct something, you should reset all the votes to make it fair for everyone. thanks.

btw, this is the second time is happening the same thing to me. first time i didnt want to complain, and i asked politely what are the rules for adding a hack to HotM. nobody answered to me.

now i complain, because i dont find it fair.

The Store Hack By Lesane for sure!

Xelation 05-01-2002 09:17 PM

I agree with you nakkid, I don't want to sound like a whinner... but that is totally unfair for nakkid, vbhome has gotten many more votes than vbindex.

Lesane 05-01-2002 09:27 PM

100% Store Hack

/me Agree's With Nakkid

NTLDR 05-02-2002 06:39 AM

I must add that nakkid does have a point, I saw quite a few votes for vbHome and expected that to be in the list and not vBindex, many more users voted for and have installed vbHome.

Admin 05-02-2002 09:28 AM

Scott picks the nominations randomly, not based on how many times it was seconded.

i see. thanks firefly. then is time for me to vote.. the store hack. :)
so far the favorite is contract posts. however what i dont like to this hack is the huge amount of html that adds to postbits.

Disturbed 05-02-2002 11:54 AM

uhh wats the point of nominating hacks if hes gonna pick them up randomly not by how many times it was nominated?

i mean he can always go to the Full Releases forum and pick new and popular hacks...

Hello nakkid,

Sorry you're disappointed about the selection of the nominees but rule number 8 in the nomination guidlines states:
Quote:

8. ***Important!***All nominations recieved will be thrown into a hat and 5 final nominees will be pulled. This selection will be 100% random!

Out of interest, if Hack A was nominated 5 times and Hack B nominated once does Hack A get five "enteries into the hat" and hack be get one?

If not I think this would be a fairer way of doing it.

Contract Old Posts! :D

Neo 05-02-2002 07:28 PM

O____O Why would my hack be in here

scsa20 05-02-2002 07:44 PM

Contract Old Posts ;)

wot-Mike 05-04-2002 02:35 PM

Didn't expect to see my hack in there :surprised:

I have saved myself from humiliation and put the one and only vote on it ;)

Dark_Wizard 05-04-2002 04:24 PM

This was a tough decision between the Store hack and Contract Old Posts. I based my decision on what my board needs most right now and I voted Contract Old Posts! Any chance on a second place for the Store hack?

i agree. now judge(flame) me all. i noticed recently that people think about me nothing but bad things. i prefer to be quiet from now on, here at vB.org, so i avoid any conflicts, that i dont intend to create them anyway (my big mouth... i know). i will still help as much as my limited knowledge allow me, but i will not comment or express my self freely, as i did before.

bigmattyh 05-05-2002 06:52 AM

This discussion is pretty distasteful. The HotM rules were clear from the beginning. It's pretty undignified to complain about the rules after the fact when they didn't go your way.

Look, you have the seventh most installed hack in the history of this site. That's a huge accomplishment in itself. I bring this up because it ought to be obvious to anyone who's worth a dang that your hack is a useful, popular hack. You don't need the HotM to validate your feelings on this matter. By complaining, you just make it easy for people to perceive you in a negative light.

And by the way, this is not a flame -- merely a discussion.

TECK 05-05-2002 07:27 AM

is not about complaining matt. is about trying to find a solution for certain issues. i wasnt aware about the 8th rule until molinary and firefly point it out. as i said before, every time i say something, people complain. is not a problem with me anymore. i have the perception that people think i want to have my hacks to be highligted with a HotM... you are so wrong. most of my hacks are worthless, especially the old ones where i had no experience at all with VB. i made only one decent hack (and even this, part of it was firefly's work), that's all.

inetd 05-05-2002 10:09 AM

Store hack - the best hack of year!!! :D
[high]* inetd agree's with nakkid.[/high]

Neo 05-05-2002 04:55 PM

More conflict about this... how many times have I seen this with many different people. I personally think HotM prevokes some anger between fellow hackers.. which I have seen.

el3m3nt 05-05-2002 05:13 PM

jap agree with you neo.. just produces anger.. and i actually i cannot the sense in it.

Takara 05-07-2002 02:41 AM

*puts her ballot in*

Contract old posts ^_^ :bunny:

such a good hack

zachb 05-07-2002 04:08 AM

contract old posts for me. it's just so darn cool. :)

Admin 05-07-2002 12:00 PM

And a time saver too, no need to try and recall what posts you have read / look at these tiny icons.

shovel 05-07-2002 06:18 PM

I think the store hack was the best out of them all. I've found many sites that use it, and I am looking forward to creating a better one.

CHoooo 05-13-2002 10:50 AM

Store hack - lesane

Henry-RS 05-19-2002 05:17 AM

I really like Lesane's "Store Hack" although it may not fit well into most sites.

Neo 05-19-2002 06:09 AM

A tie.. :gasp:

GenSec 05-20-2002 09:02 AM

From the hacker point view - Contract old posts

But.... from my forum users - undoubtedly Store Hack!

ZiRu$ 05-20-2002 03:25 PM

Store Hack all the way....lesane deserves it

Floris 05-31-2002 10:46 AM

It is the last day, and the scores are REAAAAAAAALLY close now! When will the final vote decide who will win this month!
/me is jumping up and down in the room
The tension is unbearable.

Admin 05-31-2002 01:42 PM

Admin 06-01-2002 06:27 AM
