Okay, the Integrated Journal System (called ChocoJournal at our place) is still a work in progress. I have made a ton of changes to it and built a start page for the journal. Take a look it so far below. If you are interested, reply to this thread. Other than for journal use, there can be a ton of other uses for it.

Unlike the other thread, I will include screenshots for the new entry / comment sections since you need an account at my place for that.

Wow this is exactly what I am looking for (see this thread).

It is like a personal Blog system for each of your users. If your looking for another site to test this out on, please include me in the list. This would be perfect as another add on to Vbulletin and anything that creates stickiness and content to a web site is good.

one suggestion: an extra column on the member's list with a button linking to the journal(and showing up only when the user has a journal)

Right now we have journals in a forum.. can they be moved to the journal when you release it?

Don't worry! I didn't forget about this. I just need to perfect it before releasing it to the public. I have to work on database query optimizations and stuff.

Right now we are up to Journal Version 1.71. ;-)

Here are the changes from Version 1.5 to 1.6:
> Number of comments displayed
> URL is now automatically linked
> 2 database query optimizations.

Here are the changes from Version 1.6 to 1.7:
> Buddy journal links are displayed on the main journal page. Only links to buddies that have a journal are displayed.
> A simple, fast and effective journal finder has also been created for the main page. It checks if the username and journal exists before forwarding you to it.
> A "My Journal" button has been added to the main journal page allowing you to access your journal quickly.
> You can now check how many comments you have made on all journals on your journal page (in the stats section).
> Comment entries now include profile and add buddy icons for the commenter. Also, if you click on the commenter's name it's linked to their own journal (Thanks to TubeRacer for the suggestion).

As for usage, our members seem to love it. We released it less than a month ago and already we have over 1130 entries, 337 members with active journals and 832 comments in total.

If you have any suggestions on improving it, please let me know.

How is it integrated with the users profile?

It shows if you have a journal, when the last entry was, what the title of the last entry was and coming up soon is how many entries in total that member has.

Awesome :) Can't wait until its posted. I told my hosts about it and they think it'll be incredibly popular, although someone did say:

"this will either bring all the rumors and innuendo to the surface or bury it further"

Suggestion from a user of mine:

The ability to make a journal entry private, public or public only to buddies.

I think that'd be essential :)

dude that is a tight hack! i am eagerly waiting for this release! good job with this! can users add pictures to there journal entries?

I will be working on that for a future version. Journal System is now version 1.8. Here's what's new / different from version 1.7:

• 2 database query optimizations
• Fixed a security bug allowing you to inject HTML into a journal page.
• Number of new entries since last visit displayed at the top of any journal page.
• Number of new comments in your journal since your last visit is now displayed on the main journal home page under "[ Journal Info ]"

I will make this hack public once all security, performance and feature requests / problems have been resolved.

Man I could make something like this in a week *to lazy* come on man we are all wanting to see this hack in action :)

I think I am speaking for the rest of us hear when I say we will all chip in and buy you a bunch of pizza's and beer if you lock yourself up in a room for a couple of days and come out with the release of this.
