Thread Start Time
 

This was orinigaly by noni. I have edited it so that it will work on version 2.2.x..

enjoy. any questions or comments just leave in this thread...

Files to be edited -> 1 (forumdisplay.php)
Templates to be edited -> 1 (forumdisplaybit)

Doesn't a thread have a start date by default? I do not fully understand what this does, sorry :/

Let me explain.. in a forum ... it says only who started the thread.. but with this hack... it will tell you who stareted it.. and the date and time it was started...... (kind of like how it shows when the last post in a thread was)

But.. doesnt vB already do that?

Does'nt work for me :( start date is simply not displayed :(

In forumdisply.php.. did you make siure that you put the second part AFTER THE SECOND Set of code? There are 2 identicle parts of code... you have to replace it after the second....

I installed it 3 times, but it doesn't work on my 2.2.5. :(

The installation file says to do it after BOTH instances. :)

Is there a way to have it show the thread start time in the search.php when you are "viewing new posts"? And is there a way to have the thread started by name not have the underline link on it so it matches the last post by username?

are you sure you edited the right templates?

show me the part of the template that you were supposed to edit....

Also FTR, there was a post in that thread by myself that shows a simpler way to do it. And my way is compatible with 2.2.x as well. jjj0923, I'm sorry your request wasn't answered more promptly, but you should have been able to find the existing version by simply searching for "thread start date", as I did to find the link to that thread.

In my simpler version, you do not need to perform the first step from 69-FLy-gUy's or nuno's version, which is a query edit. My version is attached to this post.

yes, i have edited the right templates. possible context with today/yesterday hack?

Hack was simple to install, I did make a little change on the template

color="/timecolor/">

replace / with {}

<font color="/timecolor/"> instead of white, so you can control the color from the color menu

align="right"> wanted to have it on the right.


Now the thing I still need to do, I want to sort my threads on start date and not on lastreply date, any ideas how I can do that ???
