Newsfader Hack for 2.2.4
 

Ok, I re-wrote this hack to work on 2.2.4, which was origionally written by ztsky. Credits go to BitBender and PBC as I used code from the posts from them.

I got lost a few times, trying to figure out what code to put where, since the upgraded hack was a little spread out all over the board. :) Just thought I'd make it a bit easier for some of the newer php hackers to install this.

I customized my newspro hack, so it won't look exactly like this, but it gives you the basic idea.

@Remi.. I have no idea if it will work with Netscape. If you have Netscape, I recommend attacking your computer with a large baseball bat until IE opens. ;)

Oh sorry, didn't realize there was another working version. And no I didn't add the welcome new member, but I guess I could've.

well Schorsch you are not alone, i tried to install this on 2.2.6 and it won't work for me either

installed on 2.2.6 and won't work for me either. Don't see it anywhere on my board, can turn it on or off in prefrences for user but nowhere else. ouch! anyone know how to get this working?

Nope not really...

I just changed the Wording and Style of the Text that Warlord provided, and put it into the phpinclude template, where I will switch it back to Staff & Paying Members only, now that you have seen it;)

The only other thing I did was open the fader.js file, and change the background color to my firstaltcolor value, which is :
And then I changed the background color in the Template too...

There are no other Modifications...

Lesane, where can I get the addon for the "welcome our newest member"? I'm using the one in here and it works good. :)

question is, are you uploading your rendition of this hack for others to use? I would like to get newsfade working on my board but obviously php is not my forte. does anyone else here have a way to hack this so the rest of us can do it?

I installed the hack and it works fine. But now I have a question:

Is it possible that these standart-news "Hello Welcome to >Boardname< is shown only once (the first time)

Now it is so that fist this "Welcome to Board" apears, then the news I added in the Admin-CP, and when all the news are shown then the first "Welcome to Board" comes again...

I hope you understand what I meen...sorry for my bad english.

just remove the welcome message all together from the index.php

working here but only in main forum home..

I had something of the same look working in header so it shows all over the forum... but I like this one better if I can make it show all over the forum
