Check Ip Against DB on Register

Ok so that this does if you are to lazy to read that thread.. is when a user trys to register but has already registered, this will check to see if they have and if they have registered before they will get a error message stoping them form doing so...

there are ways around this like, go to another computer, have a non static ip, change your ip, and so on.. but it works...

Its ok man... Well I believe at all of them.. I guess I didnt see all three.

Ok thanks, works great so far, I will still have to check some of the users, but at least I will not have the same people register 4-5 users names a day (had to delete about 12 last night because of that).

That's what I meant, sorry. So it goes after each one.

An excellent idea however you should put an exclude list. Why? There are many ISPs that tunnel their users through proxy IP addresses. Examples are AOL, some cable modem users and MSN. Keep up the good work Neo.

If you exclude AOL, sad to say, that is 30%-40% of the web that is being excluded. Too many people use AOL, I am not sure why, but they use it.

I am not sure about MSN, not many people I know use them, but if they are like AOL, I would not go with them either.

(Yes, I have had AOL - I had it for 1 day and they wanted to charge me $50 for that one day).

If user used proxy-server?

Is there a way that an option can be added to turn this off or on in the admin CP? It would be nice to have the ability to turn it off so you can log in and make a new account for testing purposes and be able to turn it back on when you are done testing.

You can create user accounts from the admin cp for testing, would that not work around this hack?

I can do it that way, but I sometimes like to test it just like a newuser would be registering and it would be great to be able to turn it off for that.

I tried it and I get an error at line 748. But that is the end of the php file.

Any ideas?
